A.smo's '99 Tacoma Build + BS

Hey guys! This will be my second build log on here. Hopefully this one I keep up a bit more. The previous truck was a '00 Tacoma. That truck was totaled when I was rear-ended in January.

That truck taught me a lot with working on vehicles and how to offroad/camp.

I have stuck with the Transformers name with truck as well; meet Sentinel.

You left off the B.S. Part In Your title, that's how you bring all the girls to your yard, not your milk shake, that's a myth.

Trucks looking good though, that weekend of hard work brought it to another level it looks like.

 

We need to go run Box Canyon as a test run, or maybe Elvis, once my weekends slow down.

Forgot the bs part. Thanks for the reminder! Amd so far it's been worth it. Still have to finish up a few things though. We'll see next weekend how it handles off road next weekend.

Most definitely need to do something. Elvis would be fun!

It rides like a dream. Such good on road manners. My body roll was minimized immensely due to the leafs and shocks.

Yep! I'm super impressed. Don't get me wrong though, going faster on curves there is still a bit of body roll. But slower turns it's better than my old stock leafs and shocks.

Dosent say it fits our trucks but its the only one I could find with LROR.

Was looking at the BAMF one but thats super expensive.... Eventually want to relocate my shocks and get some ADS rear to match the front.

 

Yep. That's the one I used. I ended up having to barely cut any off the way I welded it up. I can take some better pictures, but I folded and welded a piece of 1/8 steel around my frame to box that section in. From there, I welded the upper shock mount to that steel.

I basically pieced BAMF kit together with that and ruff stuff lower shock mounts.

 

I think I get it, but the more pics the better haha.

Did you measure for shocks?

 

Psshhh, cycling is overrated. The just eyeballed it.

I did measure the shock travel and places everything according to that. We put the new springs on and set the truck on the ground. From there we tried to settle the springs, had one person sit on the bumper to simulate the bed being on and measured from the top of the u bolt to the frame. Then drooped one side, and measured u bolt to frame again. Then cut a leaf pack apart, took out most of the leafs and rebolt everything back together and stuff that side until leaf springs are flat.

The last picture is trying to show that I bent that metal over the top of the frame and welded it there too. I do have gussets planned.
