Buddy of mine just bought a 2017 Z71 4wd 4dr Colorado. He took me for a ride up a local 10% grade just out of town. My 16 Taco DCLB TRD shifts like a drunk sailor going up that grade his Colorado went up the grade with ease...wtf! I'm jealous!

Servco Mapunapuna still has the truck - they gave me a 2016 OR 4x4 in the interim - I'll pass along results once they let me know.

So I'm almost ready to go in and get my 5K service done and I'll have them do my TSB as well. I've heard many stories on here where peoples dealerships are being stupid and trying to weasel their way out of preforming a TSB so I called and talked to my dealership (who's under recent new management) and the toyota tech guy I talked to was super friendly and totally on board with doing the TSB for me.

With that said, Did you guys have to pay to get it done? it it a recall type thing where they just do it and I should not expect to be charged or did the majority of you have to pay for something? I want to go in there prepared incase they try and pull a fast one.

Also going to have them change the quick 3 blink turn signal to 5 blinks like another member on here already did.

I just drove a 2017 with 3 miles on it. It was a diff howl test so we took it on the freeway. I sure am glad my tuck has learned my driving habits because that new one revved out each gear getting on the freeway and it was NOT on ECT mode.

    I like this transmission

Can anyone confirm this TSB covers the 2017 as well? I am having weird shifting behaviors.

I just dropped mine off and requested a manual check on the trans fluid. I told the service manager specifically a manual check. We had a nice chat about the Tacoma's performance (overall). He said they are getting some complaints from locals on the power train. We're a small town so that is telling.

Just performed 10k service, performed TSB based on my feedback. Immediately felt difference. 1st to 2nd is like butter now, no hard shift. Driving up hills, holds gear longer without gear shifting up and down between 3/4, felt more responsive off gas pedal and more torque as well throughout the power curve. Very excited and hope the learning does not revert this fix. TSB service was professional and quick as well. Key is to provide the TSB to service department before your appointment for quick service. Was well known TSB when I visited so no hassling. I will add my details to survey. Good job Toyota listening and coming up to a quick resolutions.

My fluid level was manually verified to be normal. No fluid needed.

well that was interesting. better stick to my day job. had nothing to do with drive train. Fuel injector misfire. They also found oil leak at the valve cover, grrr. but I'm glad it was discovered now at only 400 miles.

Yes the TSB is a free service. If the TSB Bulliten i read from the first post is correct, you have 96 months or 80,000 mi(whichever comes first) under warranty for the service to be performed. I took my 2017 in today for its 5k service and I told them multiple times that i did not need or want it done... They chose to not listen to me or consult me before hand for some reason.

I've owned the 1st and 2nd Gen Tacoma both great reliable trucks. I ran the crap out of them! So far I'm disappointed with my 3rd Gen, I want to love this truck! But damn!

I'm pretty much okay with the drivetrain. After 6,500 miles and the TSB it seems to be running okay. My mpg's suck donkey balls, but that's another story...

I got this TSB done a week ago. Huge difference for me. Before when I was at a stop light I would have to press the gas to get moving. Now its back like how it supposed to be. Also today I drove down this winding hilly road and I would only get 15-16 mpg in the past. Well for the first time ever I got 18.3mpg. Huge difference and big savings on gas.

I had the TSB performed Wednesday and it is more responsive but mine is still lugging in the 35-50 mph range. Is it just me or does everyone feel a jerking/vibration sensation when the RPMs are low and traveling 35-50. I notice it most when in traffic and not accelerating.

I would describe it as a fluttering feeling. It feels like an engine misfiring or a transmission ever-so-slightly slipping to me.

That is a great way to describe it. Maybe i'm hypersensitive to it but it bothers me every day. Just wondering if others had the same issue since don't see many complaints.
