Isnt the truck designed to cut fuel when the rev limiter is hit so the rpm lowers and changes gear, i know in s mode 1-2-3 etc if i maxnout the gear it cuts out and losses power. Is this the same issue?

I just got mine back for the leaf spring noise. Unfortunately the new ones will not fix the issue and it will come back. The tech that had mine for 3 days told me what the issue is but Toyota wouldn't let him replace the springs. I could type it all but there will be some things that'll be lost in translation so to speak

Quite likely a valve body issue. Try this OP: Let the truck sit overnight on a cool night, start the truck and immediately accelerate to 50 mph at 1/3 throttle. See if the transmission flares on the 2-3 or 3-4 gear shift. Let me know the results.

That would be correct. It's an issue with sand getting in between the disc and the leaf they support. Scratched the paint and caused oxidation on the upper leaf. Toyota said its environmental and they will not replace the springs. So no fix after leaving it for 3 days. The dealership it's bound by the higher ups. So filed a complaint with corporate. Going to figure out a material to replace those pads with that won't squeak as long as cleaned after going off road

    WTF!
When we were looking at it, he said thats why the 2nd gens are being recalled (the discs)
To me it sounds like its coming from the front bushings where the leafs pivot..
Ill have to take a closer listen.

I fully expect after replacing the leafs for the squeak to come back, ill just keep coming back while its fully warrantied I guess. Shit like this makes my blood boil. Thanks for info!

Just talked with the case manager and Toyota motor sales will not replace the part because it's a not a fix only a bandaid. If the dealership does it they will be paying for it out of pocket and TMS will not reimburse the dealership. So be thankful if they're doing it because they may not again until a fix is found. Like everyone has said, call corporate about it and make your voice heard. We are but a small percentage of owners on here. The case manager is getting this issue more by the day. It can only help speed up the process of getting a fix

Funny I just dropped mine off yesterday for almost the same thing....Had the TSB done at 1000miles because of drop between P-R-D but it was hesitating thru gears (3-4). Now between 1100 and 1300 rpm in second or third gear it hit a deadspot where it wouldn't accelerate until it slowed enough to drop down a gear, also happens at highway speed around 65-70. I can give it gas and nothing, no acceleration no response. It's at 2500 miles and they called last night saying they couldn't replicate the issue and their Toyo tech would be onsite this morning to look at it and test drive it...I also sent them a video this morning of it happening a week ago (highway issue). Hopefully I get a better response than tough crap....

If properly installed, the squeak will NOT come back, because otherwise everyone would have the squeak and I know I don't

    Cheers!

Have you taken it off-road or out on any dirt roads of significance? I'm curious because of the excuse I got from Toyota. The noise is definitely not coming from the bushings. If that was the case I can order aftermarket ones and fix that problem

Asks the question... Why the squeak in the 1st place.
Admittedly its seen more off road than average, and that's what's it does best. Advertised as.. I guarantee the squeak to return. But if they don't off road test these and find they make noise after a few trips then we are an exception I guess..

I'm definitely no hard core but I'd expect a few years at least. Whatever... Fun fuckin truck. It's all good.

Oh no it's a known issue told to me by the service guy when I first took it in. Then proceeded to tell me it's an issue in 5 states. Basically the southern US where sand makes up most of the terrain i.e. California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas and Florida. But still bullshit they haven't found new pads. If you want to dm me I can give you my idea of the fix I'm going to try myself and see what happens.

If sand was causing the issue, then every offroad vehicle with leaf springs would also have the squeak noise and I know they don't.
It's a poor excuse to do the labor.

I agree but it's supposedly the little disc keeping the leaf springs separated that are causing the noise. I'll figure out a different material and get some fabbed up and see what happens.

It is the silencer packs between each leaf. A very good cleaning at your local carwash should do the trick as it usually does with mine. I also have changed my silencer packs with ones found from a local manufacture of leafs. Also available on most auto parts websites.

My squeak didn't go away with multiple cleanings but that is the issue

You could use a flat screwdriver to seperate each leaf and grease the shiola out of them. Just temporary. Someone i know used black gasket material also.(aka plumbing etc) again just temporary.
