What's sad is there are so many bad dealers that when presented with info contained in the OP it's not much of a leap to come to the conclusion more likely than not they did not change the spark plugs. What's more surprising is a good dealership service department still exists.

Well...if they were new....they were new. :notsure:

I voted "no"...and I'm due someone an apology.

I guessing that tech can do a plug job in 1/2 the time we mear mortals can do it. And apparently with none of the finger prints and smudges.

I changed plugs in a 6.0 truck the other day without leaving paw prints all over it. It can be done.

Yeah what started for me was yesterday with new service writer. SVC Mgr confirmed today the guy was new & in training mode. We discussed services via the prepaid plan & I really needed to spell it out via the warranty booklet 60k service schedule. This was all while I was in the service waiting lane. No other customers. 8 service writers staring at me while this guy confirmed plugs were included in the service.
I picked the truck up late due to extended hours & didn't check everything out until today. The only person there was a girl cashier who commented wow you got spark plugs too.
Today when I popped the hood I saw where the air intake was all marked up from swapping out air filter. I didn't want to touch anything.
The service mgr. & shop foreman were super & wanted to QC because they thought it was strange too. They were concerned & very accomdating. I've been a long time customer & not really a complainer but was skeptical especially in light of my initial interaction yesterday.
I told the shop foreman the service lane gauntlet can be intimidating & now there will be probably a big red x in my record haha
He wanted to set up a prank in the service lane with me.
It really turned out OK and I'll own my mistakes :)

I'm just curious how many people here would rather have marks all over everything versus having things look as if they were never touched.

I think the main thing with me was the cover was "dirty" to begin with. Which in turn raised a red flag to the OP. (The cover is required to be taken off to change the spark plugs) Of course the tech could have tried his hardest to not leave a mark. But you don't see that too often with techs being based on commission with how many vehicles they get through their bays(most of my friends are commissioned at dealerships not sure if that is everywhere). Add to the fact dealerships don't have the best rapsheet.

But at least this dealership seems to prove the dealership stigma wrong. Not only did they take out the plugs, they did it right in the first place.

Congrats for not finger fucking clean seats and parts. Think with the dirty engine cover, you would see finger marks in the dust or even screws being worn clean from a screw driver or socket. Not clean parts with dirty fingerprints. You are professional and I would like the same if someone worked on my vehicle. If I was working on a truck or car, I would have cleaned whatever I touched, dirty or not. Just professional.

No one bothers to brag about good dealerships. Same can be said for many different businesses.

You want me to clean your engine bay? Or did I misinterpret what you said?

Yeah, usually only to review bad experiences. I am not a big yelp user, but have been lately as I've needed some work done at my house. Having been in a customer service role previously I try to always review good experiences with companies especially small businesses.

Sure. Can you do it in a thong while I drink beer and finger my bellybutton? Maybe I'll say, " Get down there and dirty like." While rubbing myself. No of course I wouldn't want you to clean my engine bay. But If say you took the engine cover off, dust it off and wipe it down. Whatever you touch, take ownership of it and make it look better then you got it.. The intake box was dirty with fingerprints, I think that should be cleaned up. I don't work on commission though so I guess some people feel differently

I'm still skeptical.... I mean even the plug covers themselves don't have disturbed dirt, also the screw on the engine cover doesn't have disturbed dirt either.... I would have taken pictures of the plugs when they took them out. They could have done a switcharoo when you were there viewing.

Oh look a bird, and then switched the spark plug with a new one.
