Stopped by my shooting spot on the way home from school today and put a few rounds of remington core lokt through my 308 since I sighted it in with surplus 7.62 rounds.
Consistent hits on 4" plate at 100 yards and consistent hits on 8" plate at 200 yards, If I had been able to prone out or get a more stable shooting platform (I was shooting standing supported) I feel like I could have hit the 4" at 200.

Savage model 10, FCP-SR (Fluted 20" barrel, threaded for a suppressor) with a Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16 scope.

Old picture (I had the nikon on it while the Vortex was on back order).

In the right environment and right conditions with that rifle, you should be able to hit a 4 inch plate at 600 yards see! Now you have something to look forward to.

Absolutely, I need to start working on my fundamentals for rifle shooting because I'm sorely unstable in any position other than prone.

4moa standing is hunting accurate. I'm sure if you put it in a lead sled and waited for perfect conditions you could do a lot better.

You and everybody else. I suck standing up also, I sway like the ropes on a sailboat mass. A lot of people say that the model 10 is quite finicky on what loads it runs so that could hurt you or help you also.

Ha. Ill just say i definately have home court advantage, my wife gives me crap some times about not takin my gun off when i get home, but i take it off when i get in the shower, lay it on my night stand take a shower and go to bed. I have shot guns in my wife and my respective corners and a rifle goin i to my bathroom (this one is mostly for shooting coyotes out the window) if someone is dumb enough to come into my house and room especially at night... May God havr mercy on their soul

This was a hard thing for me to imagine until I realized that you meant there are shotguns in the corners of your bedroom

p229 shoots so much better, my groups greatly reduced and i am finally on target. Now, I really need new sights. zIve been looking at the sig x-rays, Since i get them for 80 after the discount...

on another note, i tried to rent the g43 and the sig p938. they didn't have any rentals available .
Held them both, the clock feels like a glock. the sig feels small and like a quality piece. also the safety is another thing, the g43 doesn't have a safety. I also noticed i would need a extended mag for the p938, as its a little bastard.

    if i got the g43 . the gun is 370, xs big dot 100 , holster 30

    p938 ..... gun 580, holster 20.

    decisions.... decisions

Helped a buddy sight in his Mosin today, it was basically a waste of time, his dad is a "Gunsmith" but he has the most redneck ways of doing stuff and it usually doesn't work.
The mount for the red dot was a cantilever style mount that attached to the barrel where the rear sight usually is, the whole mount flexed when touched and the screws were supposedly torqued properly but his zero wasn't consistent.

Also took my savage out and let my buddy shoot it, shooting off of a table he had 3 rounds grouped within .75" at a little over 100 yards, not bad for factory remington core lokt ammo.

I had a scout scope setups like that on my mosin and had to make a dimple with a drill on the down facing set screw to come close to holding zero. Its a great idea but mosins high recoil are just about too much for that set up. I have the ATI bent bolt and the rear rail that i drilled and taped into the reciever and put a 50mm on it and i feel like its a much better option for not much money. But its not reversable back to stock i guess

I'll let him know about the bolt option, I know nothing about Mosins or really foreign guns in general.

My cousin just sent me these pics, him and a co-worker built this today.
Pretty badass and I think I'll have to copy the design.
