I know this is a odd question but here goes: Does anyone know if the seat mounting rails on a 08 Tacoma are painted in any special way.

Are they just primed and sprayed or are they powder coated or electrostaticly (sp) painted.

I am in the middle of an issue with the dealer as they are rusting where they bolt to the floor.

Was new but the factory didn't seal the back of the cab properly and rain got in. They had it for like a month drying it out and waiting for new carpets, this was over a year ago.

so it was semi flooded...I would say that the dealership owes you some new rails, or to repaint them back to factory specs.

Well that is the argument, well not really an argument.

They touched up one, very poor job so I contacted Toyota.

But my concern is that they aren't painted in a normal manner but something "special" is done to them so they are not worn down by your heel hitting them.

Where the cab is put together, behind the rear seats.

This is a extended cab NOT a double.

A human or a robot is supposed to lay a bead of sealant of some type, either they ran out of forgot or whatever.

The rails are usually e-coated, but only for appearance sake ( most seat parts hidden are bare & rusty)

I thought so but I want to be sure before I go back to the dealer.
