Does anyone know if a 33" tire will fit underneath the bed of a 2016 Tacoma in the factory spare tire mount?

I was thinking of going with the Universal Tiregate bed mount. I also considered the N-Fab BM1TSBK Bed Mounted Rapid Strap.

I read that it helps with off road performane mounting the spare over the top of the rear axle or foward of the axle (closer to the cab). Any suggestion???

Cab roll rage built into bedcage.
pretty sure you can stuff a 33" in the stock tire holder. just gotta bend out the metal supports underneath to make way.

Another thing done before is to relocate the hanger slightly. It's just bolted in, so you drill holes accordingly to move it. I read it awhile ago, but it may have been @Crom

I have the tire gate bed mount. I like having the tire up there when off-roading because it is up safe in the bed. And way easier to get to if you need it while in th mud or something. Only annoying (have to take it out) really when moving big things like a couch or something which isn't often anyways.

With it mounted outboard...you can still use 95% of your bed space.

That one is the Prerunner Tiregate. It's the only one Wilco Offroad makes that is reversible. IMG_1968.jpg

I stuffed a 285 under my 2013, just hat to cut one of the tabs off, and use a zip tie to keep the tire away from the pumpkin.

    Wilco Offroad Tiregate mounting issues!!!!

I decided to go with the Tiregate mount. Looks awesome, but so many issues mounting it to a Tacoma or probably any fiberglass/plastic bed.

You are not able to mount the bottom base plate flush, due to the reinforcement ribs that run across the bed (refer to photos).

I contacted Wilco Offroad and asked them for a solution, which they recommended cutting the beds reinforced ribs, so the base plate can be mounted flush.

I think this is a horrible idea, because it could very possibly compromise the integrity of the bed. I decided against Wilco Offroad's advice to cut the bed's plastic reinforced ribs, and plan on manufacturing a new base plate.

If I had to do it all over again.... I would have gone with the Fabtech FTS10001BK Spare Tire Mount. The Fabtech mount will fit without modification.

I had to cut my tabs to get that same tire to fit comfortably under mine. It fit but was not all the way flat against the bottom of the bed.

The closest to the cab a 33" tire can be mount is 16 1/4". From the photos you can see two wide spots where the factory base plate will fit. The first is less than 16 1/4" (by 10 or more inches) and the second available spot has some tree hugging emissions module mounting in this space.

My 2016 Tacoma has a Tonneau cover, so this mount would not work.
