Rose colored glasses is exactly right.

There are a few that have legitimate issues and I hope they get taken care of..... I really think most people are just whining about stuff they don't understand and blowing things way out of proportion.

I'm a Chevy guy who objectively looked at the truck options with needs/wants in mind and ended up with the Taco. 12,000 miles later and I'm pretty happy with the truck.

True having your rear diff replaced though as I did is hardly little. But like I said I'm trying to be positive I let Toyota make it right and I do like a lot about the truck but I also won't deny its issues and I didn't either with my other Tacomas.

1st gen Tacoma to 2nd gen Tacoma, 1st gen tundra to 2nd gen tundra, entirely different/redesigns. Toyota doesn't always just refresh.

lol, im confused....how does that reinforce your point?

If I'm reading your post correctly, you are stating that there is lack of research and development and that they rushed the new tacoma.

My QC statement is specifically in regards to the manufacturing process, which has nothing to do with R&D.

All vehicles are going to have issues and we have yet to see any recalls on the 3rd gen Tacoma. The issues that we are seeing actually affects a significant minority of the trucls coming off the lots. For instance, my truck has none of issues. I did have the AT tsb performed, but didn't really have any major issues...it was free...why not.

Coming to tacomaworld and seeing 3rd gen issues is like going to a gay bar and seeing gay people....in reality, it's not as common as it seems.

We're are you getting minority? There's 177 guys with reported diff issues in one thread alone...glad you have no issues but almost everyone I've talked to has had one. Whether a transmission update, control arm plugs, diff, etc

Carrying over parts would require less r and d so they can get the truck quicker to market.

I'm not a hater I own one and have plenty of friends that do too outside here. Out of the 5 I've owned my 16 has had the most issues. No big as I said it's a new truck and Toyota has stood by it in my situations so I'm content. Dismissing those with issues as a minority isn't helpful to anyone and annoys me because there are plenty trying to fix issues with their truck and we should all be there to figure this stuff out not dismiss it.

It's a great truck but has a few quirks. I'm sure Toyota will sort it out in time.

Let's just do some simple math. Not really accurate but trying to offer a perspective.

    177/100,000 = 0.177%

In response to your tundra and 1st gen to 2nd gen tacoma...not 100% fresh off the blocks as you may think. A good amount was new but things were still handed down.

I'm just trying to offer you a different perspective to help calm your nerves. Shit happens my friend...really sucks that you are dealing with these issues with your new truck. There will always be a lemon no matter how much research and qc goes into it. Hopefully toyota takes care of you and you are a happy camper in the end.

Your math is flawed, you need to do 177 out of the 450 or so surveyed in that thread, then multiple by the larger population and that's just that issue.

Nothing was handed down from 1st gen Tacoma to 2nd gen. What are you talking about.

Toyota did take care of me I would say lemon if there wasn't 177 of us just here on TW. Come on dude

    Gay bar my friend...

TW is the worst place to get such statistics. I'd say that my .177 is more accurate than your 30%. Just a hunch...lol

You haven't taken statistics have you. Just a hunch lol. And your still disregarding all the other issues even if they are minor including the transmission update you even did. Agree to disagree.

Dude you may very well be right I'm just saying. To do the math right you take a population sample size then take that percent surveyed and extrapolate. So 500 surveyed 250 said yes they are voting for trump times that by the percent not surveyed so out of 200000 voters 100000 will vote for trump. Of course there are other things like the sample surveyed etc. but it was 177 from that thread surveyed not from all owners and not all owners are on TW or viewed that thread. No big man.

I believe the Third Gen is the worst release of any Tacoma generation, perhaps any Toyota Truck generation, ever. (when it comes to quality)

I feel like everyone complaining about their 3rd gens are a bunch of women! why'd you buy the truck when you KNEW about all the possible problems you may run into. I'm 250 miles into having my new tacoma (last tacoma was a 15 sport) and this new truck is MILES above the previous years in terms of quality, materials, comfort, ability,...god damn everything it seems. Now if I run into problems here down the line I'll deal with it and I won't come on here complaining toyota pseudo-manufactured these tacomas. just my IMO.... you knew the possibilities in buying a 3rd gen, people have to stop coming on here to complain about it. for every one complaint on here about their trucks, theres hundreds of happy customers not on TW praising their new tacoma.

The people on Tacoma World are enthusiasts and thus a minority. If someone has a problem, they will rant and rave about it till the fat lady sings. They have
sold tens of thousands of 3rd generation Tacomas. I'm sure issues that crop up are an anomaly and will be fixed through a TSB or warranty. But a sample of 177 problems of 10s of thousands of a truck does not make a good sample size. This is a truck that is built by humans
and most of the parts are sourced out. Mistakes happen.
Statistics show that Toyota sill make good quality vehicles (J.D. Powers and Consumer reports). But with all man made products lemons do get made.
