Random questions. 2wd tacoma with the 2.7, anyone know the power potential of the 2.7? buddy has one back home he is selling and just wondering about it for a run around/fun truck. Lower a tiny bit and have fun with it.

I thought that was you! Did you trade the fun for it? I was coming in from an unsuccessful deer hunt. The truck runs fine, just loses oil pressure when it is shut off. I'll be sending it back in when the hunting season is over.

Got a beat down today on the dirt bike with the guys. Slid down a bunch of ice on the way down from cyclone to the lake. Ran Shoshone and came out in sinks by fairfield hill. 35 miles and there's no damn way a truck can get to Shoshone from the Pete's lake side.

Not sure, I am losing pressure on the chain tensioners. That causes slack, which causes a grinding noises until the pressure returns and tensions the chain.

I sold the '14 FJ. Made 5K on it couldn't say no. I just got back from deer hunting also, had this truck up for a week, I like it way better than the '16. I did all of the mods week before last, it's a certified used, had 2.4k on it when I got it last month. Sorry to hear about Baby T. But it has been my experience that all trucks lose oil pressure when you shut them off, LOL! You have a draw tag or general?

The tensioners are hydraulic. Lose pressure, lose tension. Mercedes had these POS systems and it trickled down to the Jeep/Chrysler engines of the late '90s and up. Stay away from 2.7, 3.7, & 4.7 engines as they all had that hydraulic tensioner system with 3 timing chains. Talk about a mofo to work on and the vehicles they come in are pretty shoddy as well. Don't buy one even for your red headed step child, they are serious potential basket case engines. I never understood why Toyota went to them in some engines, maybe the Japanese engineers got a little too drunk in Germany hanging out with other engineers from other manufacturers on a business trip. LOL, ya never know!

Ya might aughtta think about installing some wheels on that so you can take it to the next step of being a portable engine stand. :D:boink:

You see that plate with holes drilled in it? It's not there just for looks. That is the base plate that the casters are bolted too. Way ahead of you!
