Well, deer hunting was unsuccessful but I did get face to face with what I believe to be a saw whet owl. Got the best shot with a 50mm I could. It was early morning and I got stuck in a thick wooded area. After crawling on my knees for 10 ft trying to get to a clearing, I sat up to see those big yellow eyes peering at me.

I spend at least a week in Superior National Forest grouse hunting with the dog every year. If the snow doesn't get too deep for the dog to run will be back up after my annual SD pheasant hunting trip.

Taken tonight with the headlights to focus the camera and assist the on board flash to fire. Nearest occupied cabin\house was at least 20 miles away and I took the 2 track from hell to get to this place. But it is always worth it. On the way out hit a flight of woodcock, there were over a hundred of them in a one mile stretch of clear cut. Yeah it is wet here right now enough for woodcock to be in clearcuts.

Fall means end of the year is coming. End of the year means busy holidays are dawning. First things first: Halloween!! Pumpkins of course.

Leaves have not started to change here yet as it was still 95 degrees last week. I did grab this shot of fog coming off the lake on a cool morning we finally got. Water is still warm and the fish are still biting.

it's just a 24mm f/2.8. I had it wide open at 2.8 which allowed the massive lens flare. the sun was also right out of view on the left.

Wow! It looks like 11 official entries this week. Great turnout both in total entries and in quality! I am pressed for time with work so I cannot critique them all. The one that keeps grabbing my eye is 2big4arunner's. The water tension around the leaf just adds a great dimensional element to the shot and it feels like a very classic fall shot.

    Winner: @2big4arunner

I liked that photo as well. Waiting for the next but my schedule may not allow much shooting time but I can try.

I sent the pm a while ago. Not 100% it's a feasible challenge so gave second thought as well. Medic might mix the two. You just never know

Awesome capture! Too bad you didn't have a little more focal length!
