just thought I'd share some info on the clutch situation. I have a 14 Tacoma 6 spd 6 cyl with a clutch that intermittently likes to squeak (video below). Dealer will "fix" under warranty by replacing clutch master cylinder and the clutch pedal itself per (not sure which one) a Tacoma TSB. Any thoughts on if this will actually solve the issue?

    https://youtu.be/G8Iy5nrO25k

Just a little further info if anyone is curious:
The issue is very random. Some days it's only happening when pushing in the clutch. Some days it's both pushing in/releasing clutch. Some day it seems to only creak when in gear and releasing clutch. some days it works smooth as butter all day.

my 2013 had the same issue. A friend with a '13 also had the problem and had the master cylinder replaced but the noise came back.
For me, it only happened in the winter. My dealer mentioned replacing the cylinder and a plastic part with a metal one, however, before that they lubed it up. It has been over a year and no return of the sound. Hoping it doesn't come back and if it does the truck is still under warranty.

Its a common issue that goes back to the 1st gens. My 15s pedal creaked like an old barn door when it was hot outside so I ended up using disc brake grease on all the pivot points and in the little cup that the rod is in and its been totally silent since then.

Taking my 2015 in next week for the creaky clutch - last time I mentioned it they "couldn't reproduce the noise" and sprayed some lube in the pedal. Now it's really noisy - dealer gets one more chance then I'll take matters into my own hands.

Sounds more like he means to intend to fix it himself.

It's a oft mentioned and well documented method and actuLly worked better than some others. I have an '07 with 114k miles. I have had this problem since about 15k. I have tried multiple methods. Anecdoctal evidence of course, but more experienced with the issue than many owners which would include, seeing as you have a '12, yourself?

Since you did not offer a remedy except to comment on a solution I offered I Cannot help but to question your validity even more. ✌:hattip:

Job is being done under warranty this Wednesday. I'll post what happens and hopefully this won't be a temporary fix.

If that fails, which it probably will unfortunately, there are some fixes on this site that have worked better than the toyota replacement. When I had the 6 speed I had all those parts replaced under the TSB and within 6 months or so the exact same noise was back. Now I have an auto. No more clutch squeak. :D

A search for "clutch creak" or "clutch pedal noise" will bring up plenty of threads on this topic. I don't think it's a flaw per se, it's just the way the clutch is designed and it does require maintenance like the door hinges or latches in the door.

The TSB fixes the noise for most mainly because during the replacement of the slave cylinder, the pivot points are lubed (or should be).

This. Reach underneath the pedal and find the little shaft. Rotate it 90degrees. It will stop the squeak, it worked for me.

The TSB was a temporary fix for mine. Squeak came back in 6 months. I got it to go away by adding lube to the pivot point between the pedal and rod. I happened to have a jar of never seize with a brush attached to the lid and shoved that thing in between the pivot point. Problem solved instantly...

My '13 had that squeak. I tried rotating the shaft, spraying white lithium grease, nothing helped. I removed the pedal assembly and lubricated the bushings with a swimming pool product for o-rings, Aladdin Magic Lube, and reassembled. It has been smooth and dead silent since - going on a few months now. So, if you're tired of spraying stuff at the problem or going to the dealer for another short term band-aid - consider pulling it apart yourself and lubricating it. Be certain whatever you use to lubricate it is plastic safe.

Now... if someone can tell me how to get rid of the clutch creek in bell-housing that would be great!
