greasing u joints

What do you guys use to keep the grease from coming out where the grease gun coupling clips on the zerk fitting.I have a hell of a time getting the u joints on my front drive shaft to take in grease. 2012 access cab 4x4.thanks to all that reply.

 

The grease fitting on the gun is usually adjustable by spinning it. If its too loose then the grease will come out the sides of the gun fitting.

I use a needle attachment and it works great

 

I use the adjustable coupler and it works great... but the one up there by the front diff is a pita. I've never used a needle attachment... are there different sizes or are they one size fits all?

 

I'm not sure about different sizes, I went to autozone because my coupler couldn't get to the front ones and I only saw one size needle attachment. The needle is about 3-4" long.

Would the stuff total chaos suggests for uca bushings work for ujoints as well?

 

I'm also curious as to what is considered the "best" grease for ujoints.

 

Any bearing and chassis grease will be fine if applied at appropriate intervals. I use Valvoline Crimson. I grease the front every 5k miles and the rear every 2.5k miles. What you do with your truck determines how often you need to grease. Wheeling in mud and water requires more greasing, as does heavy towing and hard wheeling - when compared to daily on road driving.
