    A non-update update:

The truck is running great. I've put probably 8,000 miles on it with only two small hiccups:

    1) I ended up ditching the fancy, electronic PCV switching solenoid. The solenoid seemed to be sticking sometimes, which would, of course, cause pressurization of the crank-case. I switching to simply running the valve cover breather into a Moroso air/oil separator. It seems to work fine.

    2) While flying up I-70 at 11,000 feet at 80 MPH, the A/C hose that runs near the turbo melted and exploded, sending a cloud of refrigerant onto the road. There is a new hose with a generous amount of tube heat-shielding.

Mind posting a final pic of the truck? I thought you mentioned the hood wouldn't close when this project started..?

Also if you have a video of it running, I'd love to hear it.

There's a picture of the engine bay on the first page, and yep I mention earlier in the thread about having to cut a hood support out to get clearance. I also stuck a couple washers underneath the brackets to get a little extra breathing room.

I meant a pic of the truck itself with the work all complete. But anyway, it's cool, don't worry. Congrats on a cool project finished :)

Oh, duh. Yeah here's a recent shot of a random Friday-after-work camping trip and another with some friends on a quick cruise to Aspen.

ive read thru the thread and have followed some of your methods for turboing my truck

my question though do you have an oil pressure gauge installed and what are the readings you've been getting?

what grade oil are you using?

No oil pressure gauge. But the oil pressure should be whatever the engine manual says it is. I'm assuming you're wanting to set the flow to the turbo. I was using regular 5w30.

The 5vz Tacoma on Youtube (with the lady driver) was at 20psi, with forged rods only... I wonder if they upgraded after a break, or just proactively? She was always pretty vague with answers on her channel. And at what point do you start worrying about head gaskets?
