Got home to my Tacoma broken into and my radar detector stolen. I would have never known it's that easy to break a window. Not sure if all car windows are these easy to break but I was shocked at how easily my window was broken with hands. Hope this jerk rests in hell. Can't stand thiefs and vandals. Damn!
    I'm so sorry mate.
    This is my biggest fear.
Can you use your home/renter's insurance to claim for your loss/theft?
    I hate thieves.

Are you sure he didn't use something to focus the point of impact?

Research tempered car glass. This is nothing to do with cheap windows. He used a spring loaded center punch or a simple pointed object. This would be possible on any car.

Cracks me up, trying to make this about Toyota quality. Stupid tires, they're wearing out while I drive, shitty Toyota quality!

Yeah, you can break any window with 3 fingers and the right spring loaded tool.

I would assume he used something pointed.

Just pushing a window like that shouldn't break it.

They are difficult to break by punching or elbowing

Exactly. Here's a $4 punch that your grandma can pop a window with in an instant: A screwdriver levered against the edge of the glass in the window channel will pop it in a flash as well.

See the video at 1:25 for how quick and easy this is: http://fox4kc.com/2015/07/21/local-...on-breaking-windows-to-save-kids-in-hot-cars/

Moral of the story is don't leave anything valuable inside your vehicle, especially not visible. Windows will just keep honest people honest, they're no barrier to a thief.

Sorry you got your RD stolen, I've had a vehicles broken into before and it truly sucks. Locking gloveboxes are another false sense of security as well.

Sometimes it's cheaper to just leave the doors unlocked. This sucks that we live in a society where people feel it's ok to do this. But there is no way you can blame Toyota for scum like this. I guess you could be upset the door locks worked.

    Apparently not.

Yea yea. We all know Tommy is a tough guy. And at 5'7" he looks just like Jack Reacher.:rofl:

........... Reacher is described as being 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) tall, weighing 210-250 (95-113 kg) pounds and having a 50-inch chest; he was physically described as having "a six-pack like a cobbled city street, a chest like a suit of NFL armor, biceps like basketballs, and subcutaneous fat like a Kleenex tissue.

Except sometimes they dont check if its unlocked. I imagine breaking glass can be fun and part of the thrill.

Plus there's the chance that opening the door would set off the alarm. I had my 2002 4runner setup that way, even if left unlocked the factory alarm would activate after a couple minutes. Kids and wife hated it, but I kept it that way because it was parked outside. That was before we had dogs who let us know if anyone comes up the driveway.

When I had my Mustang GT, I always had my radar hooked up. ALWAYS I SAID. Anyway, if it is too inconvenient to remove it each time you park, I highly recommend getting a mirror-mount for your radar, such as this http://www.blendmount.com/ . Not having those suctions cups on your windshield makes it much less obvious to criminals that you have a radar. This is what I did, and never had any issues. When at a high risk location (such as a Mall or anywhere overnight when travelling), I'd remove the radar from the mount. On the bright side, I have a slightly used Valentine 1 I'll get you have for only $300 :). Mirror mount included :-D

This is why on my funcar (convertible) I sucked it up and paid the $800 for a Beltronics STiR+. I never have to remember to put it away or put it back on a mount.

You could have bought a vehicle from any manufacturer and he would have broken the glass just as easily. He saw the radar detector and you had no chance. Also if people are using the go pro mount. Don't leave your camera out.

Dang I guess I didn't even think about the window punch tool. I just looked at the way he pushed the window and it looked like he didn't even apply all that much power into pushing and it broke but now that I rewatch the video it does look like he took his time focusing on the window before pushing it which would explain a window punch tool. Piece of scum.
