It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
This past weekend, I lost a small chip in mine wile trying to remove a bug... Now, bear in mind, that mine is dipped oven the shiny chrome on the 3rd gen sport chees-grater grill, and I did not "rough it up" prior, as I wasn't sure I was going to keep it. In fact, I am pondering putting an SR or SR5 grill on it.

Sprayed the bumpers. Had runs in first try, but peeled it off and tried again.

Took 20 minutes total work. 3 coats. (One coat, have a beer and repeat)

Got overspray on the trim black plastic and it blends in perfect.

I think I might do my flares this weekend if it's not raining but I'm planning to leave them on the truck to spray them. I'll post pics if I get a chance to dip them.

Likely a good idea... the thought of all those broken plastic "push pins".. kinda makes ME think you are right..

    Good Luck... Post some pics..

Searched this thread and couldn't find anything conclusive.

Anyone spray PD with an HVLP gun? I was thinking about it. Can get a nice spray from my gun and it might come out nice. Definitely will be taking off my grill before I do it though.

Checkout the Dipmycar website, Fonzie sells all PD gear. Probably can see what they use. They do entire cars all the time. Hope that helps

One suggestion when you do the flairs I learned with the bumper. Leave a line above the flair to spray the truck like you do the letters so you get that nice clean and even top spray on the flair and easy breakaway where the flair meets the truck paint.

Did my grill and side emblems. Plastidip color: "Smoke". It's translucent, and got darker with each coat I put on. Did 4 on the grill, 5 on the emblems.

Has anyone used the Dupli-Color Dip? It is all I could find at my local shop.

First time. Everything I knew came off of this thread.
Turned out pretty well. I think I didn't wait long enough on my last coat to start peeling off. The inside of the V has a few threads hanging off. Besides that though, really happy how it turned out. I'm going to do the rest of the badges and the front grill this week.

My grille has a few chips, after about 3 months of being sprayed. I've kept it waxed the whole time. I think I may have sprayed it on too thin though. Used one whole can on the insert, but may have had the tip too far.

Did you spray both sides of the grill or just the front?

Just the front. Removed grill, and removed grill from bezel...

Plasti dipped my grill this weekend, I think it turned out great. I originally wanted to leave the emblem silver and add the TRD badge, but I'm starting to like how it looks all blacked out. Might just peel off the emblem later on down the road.

~8 light coats of plasti dip
    ~4 light coats of glossifier

Do you think it'll peel off the emblem pretty easily? I did mine like yours except I masked off the emblem but the plastidip peeled away at the masking tape around the emblem and I want to redo it.

I think it will come off easily. I left the edges uncovered when masking off the grill surround, and the plasti dip was thick enough to peel off without tearing. There is a good enough indentation around the emblem that the plasti dip should tear along without going past it.

Thanks, I meant "redo it" earlier. I'll prob just respray the center and tear it off.
