Well that was weird, can anyone explain why this happened?..

    Tomorrow / today is Sunday....

I woke up this morning thinking it was Sunday.

Then I recalled my colleague saying on Friday night "Seizures Tomorrow".
I remembered then ... Crap, gotta go to work today.

Had to try. Said that to a buddy once and he actually went to work on a Sunday and called his boss to ask why the shop was locked.

Please keep this thread on topic.

    ---

I had the battery and charging system tested at two locations, both techs said everything checked out fine.

I removed the battery terminals and cleaned them again and still no fix.

I'm going to dig a little deeper into this and see if maybe there is something going on behind the dash.

Does anyone have access to the wiring schematics for a 2012 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport or know where I can find them? I want to trace down the connections and inspect everything, specifically around the dash junction box. I suspect there may be a faulty ground somewhere in the circuit or possibly a connector is loose.

Did you disassemble the body ground connection beside the battery and clean it of any paint, dirt, or corrosion?

I'll clean it again. I did this when I installed my Blue Sea panel under the hood about a year ago. I also coated the exposed metal with liquid electrical tape to seal it - which I have found to be an amazing product at sealing out corrosion. Though it is possible some moisture crept in.

    ---

As a quick update. I forgot to mention a few days ago I replaced all of the suspect fuses with brand new units (as recommended above). I checked the dash junction box and everything looked great - so I returned my attention to the battery, specifically the terminals.

I removed the terminals again. However this time I attached a small wire brush/wheel to my cordless drill and gave the battery terminals and the pos/neg connectors a thorough brushing. I cleaned the inside of the connectors very well; to the point they had a polished look when I was done. I also replaced the terminal bolts with a set of longer steel bolts/lockwashers/nuts.

I reattached everything and took her for a drive. My Scangauge volt readings were the same, no surprise. The good news is I logged about 60 miles driving round trip to my favorite out-of-town BBQ joint. No issues at all. In the past few days I experienced the radio cut off every 30-45 minutes or every 35-40 miles or so.

I'm not saying the problem is solved, but this looks promising. If I can finish off the tank without another episode I'll call it conquered.

It looks like the solution is cleaning the shit out of your terminals with a heavy duty wire brush of some sort. And I mean more than 10 seconds on each, really hit it with the brush until the metal shines. I also put a thin film of dielectric grease on the terminals before tightening everything up.

In addition, my OEM connectors are showing their age. Tonight I ordered a set of military grade terminals to offer the best possible long term solution to this problem.

I'll follow up with an update at a later date.

Second on the grounding strap..... mine corroded and worked itself loose.. so I took it off...sanded the area down. And installed a new bolt with a larger washer for more contact

Edit: there's alot of ground points in the cab itself... specifically..in and under the center console/dash area... not terrible to take apart for inspection/ plastidip/paint/ LEDs

Connections under the dash. Gotta pull it all apart... Could be broken solder behind the guage cluster or pins in the multi connectors that are barely loose.

Use dielectric grease on the batt terminals

When you do get a batt, go optima yellow top. They are well worth the price.

This is the wrong thing to do. Dielectric grease is not a conductor, it is an insulator.

I've been putting it on literally every electrical connection since living down here in the swamp.

    no more corrosion problems.

it is sold for this purpose and it works.

not bad info at all. its sold as electrical connector protector or various other names.

it is for electrical connections to keep corrosion out.

Apply the grease on the outside of the connection.

Disconnect your battery touch the cables together and reconnect. I have seen this happen before mine did the same thing when the battery went south. Your truck is too new to have any real issues.

I owe this thread a follow up. I fixed this issue in October and have put several thousand miles on the truck (to include a drive from NC to western TX) with no issues, so I'm confident the problem is solved.

What I did - replaced the ECM/ECU fuse under the hood. Either the fuse was bad (with a hairline crack or a faulty element), or the ECU needed a reset. Either way the problem is solved.

    Thanks for the help gents,
