    You all have valve body problems. Software can try to mask it off, but the hardware is poorly engineered.

    I am now finding that mine flares when warmed up as well. It seems the valve body is getting worse.

    Two weeks ago I left for a trip to Colorado. While still in the flatlands my truck would refuse to upshift after cresting a hill. We were traveling at 78MPH with the cruise control on. While still headed west I called my dealer and mentioned the TSB. The service rep told me she could find no such thing related to my VIN. After returning home I made an appointment to have the truck looked at. Low and behold I dealt with the same service rep (this time face to face.) This time she told me "there is a service bulletin for that." Got the truck back after about 35 minutes. All problems solved, it upshifts perfectly and the downshifts are much smoother. Great truck!!

    @mikey4x4

    Mikey4x4,

    Before and After pictures of the TRD Grill. I have also replaced the shift knob with the new TRD one, added letters to the word TACOMA on the tailgate and installed a full bedrug in the truck bed. I think my next mod will be replacing the crome badges with black ones. I kiddingly call my Tacoma "StormTrooper". The last two images will explain. ha.

    Stupid question I know, but the dealership should still perform the transmission update even with aftermarket mods as long as nothing in drivetrain or tranny has been messed with correct?

    Yes, and it is in their interest to do so as well. The vehicle will work better with the TSB performed. There is a new TSB (not released yet) being worked on. The new TSB will bring further improvements (and possible cover-ups).

    Do you think I should get this TSB done now and then get the new one once they come out with it? Or just wait till the new one comes out? I do feel the lag in the shifting and the "clunk" going from P to D to R at times. Also, I didn't notice what gear it is but when leaving the house and accelerating from about 15-30mph there is a hang in one of the gears then shifts after a couple seconds. I never seem to notice it any other time that I am driving but for some reason it's always noticeable when leaving my house.

    Awesome thanks man. Do you know the TSB name for the update? And do I just call the service dept and request it?

    Danny , thanks for the picture. Is the grille Toyota or aftermarket , if aftermarket , contact information please. Storm trooper looks great, the force is with you! Remarkable resemblance!i
    Thanks Fred . Still hope with the pending new TSB, certainly hope this is for real, wish there were ore information on update. Perhaps this TSB will be the fix so many need. Come on Toyota , give us what we deserve , only time will tell !

    I had the TSB done last week. I can't tell much of a difference when I'm driving but the R to D delay is completely gone.

    2017 DCSB 4x4 Off Road package.

    When accelerating on freeway the transmission always shifts from 6th/5th to 4th for a split second and then to 3rd, which tacs out and then to 4th again, which was the ideal gear all along. Very unusual for all the automatic transmission Toyotas I've had.

    @mikey4x4 - The Grill is an OEM Toyota grill - they sell the insert for around 499. I got mine off of ebay and paid around $100 more than Toyota's price. You can order direct from your local Toyota dealer but my dealer told me that there were 21 on backorder at that time. I was fortunate enough to do an eBay search the day the guy listed them. He had 12. In a later conversation with the guy he said that mine was the only one that wasn't damaged when he got them in. You had asked about installation, nothing to it. a couple of screws and the rest are plastic clips. I hope you find one soon. And to stay on topic with the TSB, it definitely got rid of shift delays with me. I would get it done asap. It doesn't take long for them to do it.

    Finally I told the service manager there was a service bulletin on my trans not up-shifting. He said he could not find anything. I will email it to him tomorrow !!!
