I own an SR DCSB V6 4X4 with a tow package and it's more than adequate for my off road needs. But then I'm not into rock crawling or jumping mounds of dirt.

    Poverty models UNITE!!!! :headbang:

I didnt want the steel wheels that came on an SR5. To get the 16" aluminum wheels added somewhere like $750 to the price. I opted for the TRD sport as it came with larger alloys, larger touch screen, and keyless ignition/locks. Am glad I spend the extra $$ on it for those options.

Maybe I'm sentimental, but I really wanted the steelies to come with it (even though I plan to grab a set of alloys for the main set).

I think it's just the demographic of people you get on the forum. There are probably a lot more SR5s out there than this forum makes you think there are, just like there are a lot more RWD trucks out there that the demographic of this forum makes you think there are.

I also think it's regional. In my area none of the dealers stock 2wds and there's 5-10 TRD's for every 1 SR/SR5 trim.

I just got an SR DCSB V6 4x4. I could not find a 16 SR5 and the 17s were going to be $33500. I was not going to pay for Sirius after the initial trial and don't really need Nav. I do wish the stereo had Apps, but not a big deal. I got everything else I needed.

Just got my SR5 DCSB V6 4x4 w/ factory tow package. Its awesome and I love it! I, like a lot of others, wasn't looking for anything more than what it came with.

My new taco will be my 3rd, and a sport. The first was a used kid to late 90s I got in mid 2000s, 2nd was new, only due to the buy back, and I bought it because it was green and a manual trans, my only requirements. End up with a base 4x4, nothing fancy, not even intermediate wipers. When I went to look this time, I saw the sport and really liked it, the OR was also nice, must the hood just gives the truck a look that I enjoy. Did some research and found the only difference that concerned me was the tires and suspension. For my driving purposes, the more road friendly suspension made sence, and I figure I can and probably will beef it up at some point. I never even considered the SR or SR5 trims as once I sat in the sport I was happy with the upgrade from the 09 base.

After I had my order in, I joined TW. For a few weeks I regretted not ordering the OR,mother I come back to reality and again realize what makes the most sence. That being said, if any thing goes wrong and I have to go back to the drawing board, I may end up going the pro route, I love the cement color, even though the SR and Sr5 trims would be fine.

Most people hate OE tires, and many go bigger out of the gate.

OE navigation. MUCH rather have a portable Garmin that updates free and I can move from vehicle to vehicle, including rentals when I travel.

Smart key. I hope to never have to own one. I don't even want a chip key.

Optional options. Funny. They don't count in your $2k spread, they'd really balloon it up!

Regardless, save the dual climate and sunroof for the sedan. Heated seats would be nice in come locations, but are easy and much cheaper to add aftermarket...........

I'm not arguing. Glad you like what you have.

It's just that everyone has a desire for the trinkets, at least not in the truck.

I don't need 4wd. Nor ground clearance of significance. So my lowly poor man's 5 lug is just right.........

I have the SR5 4x4 and love it so far .. and most importantly it serves my needs as i do very little off roading. I have added a few things such as tonneau cover, window visors, Lund 5" nerf bars, debadged and added black vinyl door decals, SR5 bed decals and the matte black tailgate letters

Get an SR5, and I have an off road! Only reason I went with that over and SR5 is it had a manual and Im impatient lol. It wasn't a horrible deal tho, it seemed that manuals knock off a few 1000

And folks sell those all day long because they are adding aftermarket or OTC TRD wheels. The take offs sell for much less than $750.

And you'd have still had a flawless set of steelies on hand. Useful if you live in a place that winter tires are a good thing to have.

Due to the nature of this website being off road enthusiast driven majority of the members are going to own upper trim TRD off road/ TRD PRO's.

I have a 2016 Tacoma SR5 and it does everything I need it to do. I may be different then most on TW. I only use it to make grocery runs. It is never taken off of paved roads. If I come to a dirt road, I turn around and go the other way. I had a 2016 Tacoma SR, and had trouble seeing the instrument panel with the red indicator needles on the black background. The SR5 has white indicators on black and the digital speedo is a nice touch. The price was acceptable at OTD $28,200 for the 2.7 auto access cab with no extra packages. The only thing I didn't like was the steel wheels which I quickly switched out. Also added side steps as I have bad knees.

Everyone has different needs and desires. I guess that is why the Tacoma comes in different styles.

I thought that SR5s came with entune audio and the navigation app? That's what the Toyota website indicates atleast.

Nice truck! You can avoid the steelies with the appearance package right?

Yes, but if you want to do your own wheels then it's just about the fender flares or not. (and the automatic RV mirror).

My SR5 came with the Scout app for navigation that works with my connected cell phone. For audio, it is called entune plus with complimentary 90 day XM. It is a step up from the radio in the SR.
