Which buckets did you use? From what year and model? What did you have to fab brackets for? Trying to get all the last minute data I can as I plan on starting swapping next week. Combination of finally some mild weather and I am tired of tripping over the buckets in my storage room for the last six months.

I put a console out of an access cab in mine, it bolts right in. The only problem is there is a small section of floor that doesn't have carpet under the bench seat console that a bucket console doesn't cover.

MWFrels yes all of the holes are there for the seats and the console. There are 2 sensors, one on each rail, on the bench that you don't use on buckets. They shut off the dash airbags if the seat is all of the way forward. All you have to do is put a piece of metal in them, they are magnetic and the dash airbags will work

I replaced the bench on my 06 with buckets from a 2014 access cab. I removed the whole wiring harness from the bench (real pain the ass) and also transferred the weight sensor from the passenger side of the bench to the passenger bucket seat. Seats bolted right in as the 4 additional holes needed were already pre-drilled on the floor. I do not have a console but I do not mind. All airbags work perfectly fine.0723161058_HDR.jpg 0723161754.jpg

I used some seats out of some suv.i don't remember what it was,i just made sure that the plugs for the wiring harness were compatible. I made brackets for the inside tracks on the bucket seats to bolt to the floor.i really wish I could have found seats out of a Toyota, but I couldn't find any. I had to make due with what I had.

Thanks for the thumbs up on the mounting spots already being present. Messing with rivnuts or other I was not looking forward to.

Not quite sure what you mean by "put a piece of metal in them." Do you have any pics or graphics that you can post or will it be obvious to me when I remove from the bench?

FYI The seats I am putting in came out of a 2014 TRD model according to the seller.

Your seats will be fine then. Mine came out of a 2014 too. Like I said earlier the 4 additional holes you'll need are already pre-drilled into the floor, just need to lift the carpet in order to find them, on my truck they were covered with some black tape dots. There is also a great thread by ready2dodamage (I think that's his handle) that I used as a guide to complete my swap.

I just read most of it. Excellent write-up! All the extra info he links to in the thread is great. The one thing I don't really care for is the disabling the seat belt warning by parking the bench receivers under the seats and fooling the system with the dummy seat belt tongues. I would like to swap the bucket receiver wiring onto the bench harness. Maybe it can be done but I have not found this explicitly in the few swap threads I have read so far. Any input?

    Thanks again,
    M

Since I don't have a console I am actually using the seat belt receivers from the bench, I just bolted them up to their original locations and everything works fine. Nothing is disabled on my truck, all airbags work fine and have no warning lights on at all. Just make sure to set up the magnetic seat rail positioning sensors with a piece of metal to avoid any problems. I used 2 old wrench sockets and worked great. Wrapped them up with electrical tape.

I am thinking I may just do the console-less version first to get the buckets into the truck. Then when I work up the cajones to gamble with electrical experimentation try splicing the bucket receivers onto the bench harness. Then swap the console in.

I can get a pic but I think you will see what I mean when you get there. The seat bracket has a magnet that rides against the seat rail until the seat is all of the way forward. It loses contact with the rail and turns the airbags off. I just put a small piece of 1/8 in steel against the magnet after removing it from the seat rail. I will try and get pictures in the morning.

Well... I should find out here in about two hours or so. It's 6:47 my time and disassembly starts a little after sunrise. I will try to remember to get a pic or two.

I have a 2014 4runner powered seats. How are you able to match compatible plugs? 4runner and Tacoma plugs don't match up...the only thing that is supposed to match is the mounting holes. So how did you make the airbags fit? 4runner have their own airbags and I need to figure out how to wire them up to Tacoma...as example. No brackets needed for 4runner seats.

I made sure that the plugs matched before I took the seats out of the SUV at the salvage.

Today's project was part II of the seat/console swap. Yesterday's seat swap went relatively uncomplicated. Moving the airbags from the bench to buckets was a major PITA. But I got the seats in and am happy. Today I ran into a significant unexpected road block. My Taco is an L4 auto. It seems I have to move the shifter rearward into the second set of holes. Actually there is a patter of six holes and it seems the shifter uses four and can sit in either the front four or rear four. The shifter has a bellcrank that passes through the trans tunnel and connects to a long push/pull rod to work the trans shifter shaft. There is a depression in the trans tunnel where an alternate bellcrank hole can go. This rod will need to be 106mm longer to work with the shifter in the rear set of holes. My local Toyota dealer Parts man can only navigate with a VIN and that only gets me what I already have. Is my thinking of different push/pull rods correct or is the compensation somewhere else?

I would rather have the bench seat but dont want to go through all the pain and hassle over it.
