I broke off a bench seat anchor bolt. Im going to let it soak and try to remove from underneath tomorrow.
If I have to drill and clean up threads...
Will a regular Metric tap and die set work ok or are they some other special threads ?
    Thanks

It's less Tacoma and more mod
    I believe it is a M10x1.25

Dye is something used to add color.

Thanks for correcting me on that.
My biggest concern is that if I buy a small tap and die set that it would have the correct size I need for that seat bolt.
    Thanks again.

Why not just buy the size Tap you need . why buy stuff to sit around and never use

Then cheap tap and die sets are just that

Then till your all done some sort of thread insert might be needed .

If any drilling of the threads takes place

Worse case drill a 3/8" hole put a bolt and nut on

Get a tap and die kit. It comes in handy to have around to clean up threads. If you need a size not in the kit you can buy/order from a local hardware store like Ace, or order online. A cheap thread gauge and sizer comes in handy also.

Shouldn't need to tap it? If it's like the access cab seats... they actually bolt THROUGH the floor pan and you can see the ground underneath the truck when the bolts are out..

Why not just drill it out... and run a bolt with a nut and washer on the bottom side? Get another person to help you tighten it back down?

If the bolt just broke, you can drill it out and remove it with an extractor.

youll need a 3/16ths drill bit, cobalt or stronger, and either a straight flute or spiral flute extractor for 5-8mm holes. spiral may work best since you don't have to hammer it in, simply turning it counter clockwise will dig it into the bolt. Also, you may want to get a heat gun to help break it loose after youve done the soaking thing.

MAKE SURE TO DO THE ATF ACETONE 1:1 MIX AND USE THAT TO SOAK THE BOLT.

    good luck!

Sorry.. just noticed this is a first generation question.... well... if it's like the 2nd gens..they bolt through..

If it's a bottomed out hole.. then yes it's an m10 x 1.25 as far as I know.. and I agree with codeseven above..

I got a set that included standard and metric at Harbor Freight for a good price. It has always had the size and pitch I needed and are actual good quality.

    All Excellent help.
I actually now have two to take out. Another broken bolt on my finish mower and its 10 x 1.50.
I tried to be careful and soaked it first but didnt work but all the others worked fine.
Again thanks for all the great help.
