I can't wait to go back and run more. Didn't want to attempt anything crazy given that I was alone. My Dad ran Black Bear when he first bought my 4Runner in 97 and I've been itching to run it ever since I got the keys.

I tell you I have a fear of heights, it was rainy and wet when we ran it, and I was definitely scared. Definite type b fun, where you are happy when you're at the bottom. But I'd still do it again. Imogene was another one that was super fun and absolutely beautiful.

Do you guys know of/reference to the guy that sells the LED interior swap kit on the forums? I can't for the life of me remember who it was that I bought a kit from.

Looking for the third gen kit if it's any different I doubt it.

    Thanks.

I don't think that is who I bought them from last time, but I will check it out. Have a link? If not I'll go searching in the vendor section.

    I found the link.

    Thanks for the looking out.

I know you have the answer, but I thought I'd elaborate a little.

Later this month (26th) I will take my truck into the shop and get the ARB air locker installed in the rear making it a true 2X4. This will help out on the first leg of my journey back east for a memorial service, and a slow, winding path back here to AZ. Once I return, if the sand rail is not done, I'll finish that so it can be my DD, and I'll put the Taco in the shop to get SAS'd. If a miracle hits, and I get the Sand Rail before I head east, as soon as I get back, the Taco will go into the shop and the rail will be my DD.

The broad plan is Dana 44 up front with a mild Mid Travel setup (linked) and 4:56 or 4:88 gears. I haven't quite decided gears yet.. I plan on rolling dirty fives, nothing larger.... but we all know how that shit goes, hence the indecision. Most of my days will be filled with expo type stuff rather than climbing... but I want to be able to go wherever I want for the most part, and I'll generally be alone.

I have more stuff to get done on the truck in the next few weeks than I have in a very long time. 10 months ago we started talking about what I would do "after" and we came up with this very cool plan. Though we continued to talk about it and it actually got exciting, I deep down hoped it would never happen, but that is not the case. A hospital bed is being delivered to my home tomorrow.

My truck was given to me August 8th 2005 on my Birthday. My wife had been stashing car payments for awhile (without my knowledge) and ordered the Tacoma without any knowledge of mine. It was the birthday of all birthdays!!! Best surprise to this day, so it carries a bit of sentimental value. I still remember the smile on her face as she rolled up in it with the bow after being MIA for over an hour and a half and me wondering where she was... getting annoyed!

When looking at rides already built, or buying another and the $$ I'd put into it, there'd be anywhere from $15 - 20K difference to make up after I sold my PreRunner. After some great mod day conversation with @justlookin, and him "dragging me" to the open house, I really started thinking SAS was a viable option. Then I saw @1999RegCab 's ride sitting on display and the quality of their work. We (@justlookin and I) went into the office with the owner of the shop, talked some #'s, and then I put down a nice deposit for the above work.

I feel better that all the work I've done on my ride will not go to waste, and I get to keep not only a gift from my wife, but have that thing SAS'd as well! It may cost me 1 or 2K more once all said is done, but I can also recoup a few dollars reselling my current UCA's coilovers, etc.

It'll be well worth it to my heart.... besides, SAS!!!!!

    SO, That's that.

That truck has some true history to it. I'm glad you're keeping it. That thing is going to be an expomonster!

I'm sorry for all that you're going through bud and thanks for sharing your story. I think this is a very very cool and meaningful plan.
