It'd seen a few hail storms in the last 20 years. That truck had seen some shit and came out the other side.

    Loved it.

... ^^^ ... I would guess that a 413 Cross Ram option would be a few hundred bucks extra (at least) ... that wagon would be more than $6,000.00 ...

No prices on options but apparently Heater/defrost was an option, along with directional signals, backup light.

That's bit heavier than I imagined. I'll find out some day soon how it pulls on a trailer behind the ol' 2.7 banger.

Rat rods were out in full force. Some fun ones from Cruisin the Coast in Ocean Springs.

Why? I always wanted one of those but money always went to other things... what do they typically sell for nowadays?

It's a failed project of the owner before us.

Came with an obscene and horribly attempted chop, half started chop. Just enough to cut the shit out of things that are important and then totally be up shits creek when it came time to try and figure out how to fix it.

Just for the record, my buddy and I are only marginally more capable. :anonymous:

I'll put some pics below.. but the original roof was completely removed and a roof from a 1951 model was put in it's place at factory height, then we re-did the chop. It's set and now we're making patch panels and getting it back together. Car is pretty complete minus some trim and some small stuff like interior window moldings, and has no rust issues. The frame is original to the car but the front clip is off of a Volare, so it's going to be removed from that frame and put on the frame from the 1951, which will have a modified stock front end using airbags and the rear will be step notched and bagged with a triangulated 4 link a la Gambino Customs Taildragger kit.. has a Ford 9" in it now that'll get most likely replaced with an S10 Blazer 4x4 axle, engine is a late 60s 327 originally from a Chevelle according to block numbers, and a TH350.

Pics are in sequence from delivery to month old.. haven't taken any recent pics.

As we received it.. this was approx. 8 1/2" below stock height.

    The donor..

    Donor1.jpg Donor2.jpg

Motor at a time.. it needs to be stripped and repainted.. vintage valve covers and Carter AFB carb.

    Motor1.jpg

This is a super basic and lame attempt to see the finished roof line based on the chop and rear window positioning, and also with fender skirts - though they will not be fully welded like the pic would suggest. Just the normal skirt.

By all means don't confuse us with welders or fabricators.. first time for either of us, using the cheapest tools available. English wheel from Grizzly and a Harbor Freight pneumatic planishing hammer.

The new one out is driving prices up. A clean low miles starts around 40 and up from there usually. Mine had 55K. I just sold because of price and boredom with it. Oh and also...

Here's a side shot of the actual roof line with some welding done. Right now we're still shaping the passenger side sail panel to add more flow, so it's as close to the driver side as possible.

    Likely.. haha.

I haven't done any sheet metal work as far as producing panels, but did some body work and painting for a few years so I am reasonably comfortable. This car will be leaded and won't see any synthetic body filler at all, so that'll be a totally new experience also. Particularly on the roof, which is kind of a tight butthole proposition with regards to heat and warping that go along with using lead.

That's how we want it to be though. :fingerscrossed:
