    ^^^ I agree ^^^

I just got my black street princess paint sealed for the winter. If I decide to keep her in 2 more years I am going to have Line - X Body Armor sprayed over her beautiful black paint.

    http://www.linex.com/blog/2016/01/24/exterior-body-armour-protection

How much does it cost to line X an entire truck?
The total body spray's cost at Line-X varies, ranging generally from $3,000 to $5,000.

Now THAT is a vehicle that screams for a Modesta coating. Bet it looks even better in person. Again, not sure I would choose that solution for my truck.

Optimum Gloss Coat is very popular on the BMW forums as a quality but reasonably priced solution. It is what I had put on my wife's new BMW X1 for around $500 by a local part time detailer who had a very good reputation in the luxury car community. It is not going to have quite the glass like appearance as the Modesta, but it looks great to me. Optimum also makes a pro product that is a bit harder to apply that will normally run around $1500 applied with good surface prep. Anything above that and you will get into the price range you are trying to avoid.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Thanks! I was pretty sure that the sales guy wasn't "really" listening to me. I went in asking about a glass coat, and he immediately started telling me how inferior it was to the Modesta. Lasts forever, instead of 2 years. Better shine, better resistance to off-road scratches, etc.

Figured it was a "slick" sales pitch. (Pun intended) I'll see if I can find a local shop that does the Optimum.

I would upload some high res images that would blow your mind but this site steps on them so badly it's pointless. But yea, it was totally worth it on the vette.

Don't get me wrong, the Modesta is superior and looks incredible, and if I wanted something for my 100K+ car I would jump on it, it's just overkill for a Tacoma. Optimum Gloss Coat will last from 2-5 years depending on how much you abuse it or take care of it. Regardless of what the sales guy said, the COMPANY that makes it says 3-10 years, with 10 years being for a garage queen that gets washed every week. The real value of the Modesta is the deep glass like appearance, the wow factor.

Right. It's a truck. It's just a black truck. I want to protect it, not show it.
