I didn't think I would care about the blind spot monitor that much, I was more in for the JBL package. But actually the BSM is one of my favorite features. Keeps me from having to bob my head back and forth several times to see if someone is in the blind spot. I think the JBL is really worth it too. I have the bass set 2 notches below the medium level and it still hits really hard (in my opinion). I've never really been one to care for bass, never owned subs, but I really like this!

I would rather have had things like power seats with memory and power folding mirrors than the moonroof and dual climate control.
Those are just overkill to me.
Automatic headlights as an option is dumb to me. That technology and automatic windshield wipers should be standard on all cars.
I'm glad I got the tech w/jbl. I'd rather have stuff I don't need then be wishing later on that I got something I didn't get.

The above echo my thoughts. My primary reasons for buying the P&T with JBL package were for the navigation and JBL features.

I've had inbuilt nav on various vehicles for a few years now; although I seldom use its routing or POI capabilities, I do greatly enjoy the "situational awareness" of the moving map as well as active traffic information displayed. Yes, map updates are expensive and it sucks that they're not included; however the roads don't seem to move around real fast, so in the past I've been fine with doing an update once every three or four years.

The JBL upgrade has met my expectations; I tweaked it to fit my taste and I'm happy with the added depth the sub brings in. I'm no audiophile, just an average guy who doesn't listen to window rattling stuff. I'm sure better setups can be built by/for those who are deeply into the nuances. I'm perfectly happy with the JBL system. (and yes, the JBL badging makes it quite clear that the option is present)

Over the years I've done quite well parking a 4runner and a JKU in parking decks without any technology, though both were a bit shorter than even my DCSB. The BSM and Park Assist have been a better addition than I anticipated. Together they make it very easy to back into parking deck spots and not tag any concrete posts. The camera is great for what's right in the middle, but it's not so easy with it to discern where your corners are relative to fixed objects. The BSM/PA tones and center/corner lines display in the cluster provide excellent feedback.

Auto headlights add no value for me. Auto wipers would be nice, I have that on my funcar.

Moonroof I could easily do without, and wouldn't have bought it as an option. I'm happy with it though, I've had one in all my other non-convertible vehicles for the past twenty years and haven't had any issues with leaks. Ensuring the drains are clear is part of routine maintenance.

I'm not sure if the heated side mirrors is part of the TRD trim or part of the P&T package; I haven't needed them yet but they will certainly be handy as it gets colder.

Heated seats? Not nearly as necessary with cloth seats as with leather, especially here in the south, but certainly a nice addition that I've enjoyed in other vehicles.

Resale value of adding a P&T package will of course be a fraction of what you pay for it, especially after you've had the truck for several years.

... and the end of the day you're talking about a $2,074 or $2,702 invoice price difference for either the P&T or P&T JBL. Spread that out over your expected ownership.

I wanted it for the heated seats and BSM, and I myself using the sunroof more than I thought I would. Not having the pkg was a deal breaker for me when I was looking.

I went through this same thought process and decided to go with the Tech Package no JBL. You will be so much happier with it...especially when the wife is always cold and has the heat and seat warmers on all the time. Sunroof is a plus. Cross traffic sensors have saved me in many parking lots with dumbass drivers in NC.

Don't go for the JBL package...granted it has the JBL label, its not JBL's highest quality (and they charge out the @$$)...its mass produced for vehicles so quality on these lack a little bit. The stock sound system sucks, but your better off swapping it all out and saving yourself about $800 from not buying the JBL package...

I'm glad I got it. Initially didn't want it as I've never been a tech guy and never had any of the goodies on past vehicles. Came from a 2010 base 4wd Tundra. Now I feel like I drive a Lexus truck with all the goodies lol. Now I'll never be able to go back to a bare truck.

Please post the details of the audio system you put in your truck instead of getting the JBL option. I'm sure the OP would appreciate the info of what'd it cost to roll his own system, particularly if he's not into car audio and doesn't quite know where to begin.

Do be careful though on categorically telling someone what to buy or not buy an option when you don't know their preferences or needs. Many people are perfectly happy with the factory JBL system even though many others prefer to roll their own system instead.

BTW, list price difference is $705 and invoice price difference is $628.

You're pretty hard pressed to build something comparable to the jbl for the small difference in price. And the time it takes alone to do the install was worth more than that to me.
Also, most all of the trucks in my region w/ tech, also had jbl, so it would have required a special order to get one without.

I think the JBL is only Bass and leaves out mids and highs. I dont think its a great system. I would prefer a few 6x9's that are high quality with a small sub for texture in the sound. This is basically just a thump. Also I have had a moonroof in all of my cars and I cant do without. It may not seem like a lot but I love the added headroom and feeling of openness in the cab. If I was doing some crazy off roading I would not have gone with the moonroof as it would likely break from the torque on the body, or at best, it would leak. This truck would be amazing with front sensors as the nose is HUGE.... I would like to see a height adjustable seat and Carplay from apple or the similar system from android. I dont like stock systems and I think our phones do it better. Entune is basically garbage. my 02 cents.

The JBL system comes with the amp and most importantly, the DSP. Much more than just "bass"

I got the tech package and wouldn't do it any other way. It's my daily driver and it gives me features I would expect from a new vehicle. Traded in my 2013 for this 2017 and the difference feels like I upgraded to a luxury truck. Color match bumper was a must have. Moonroof is an excellent bonus. Blind spot monitor is phenomenal. I'm not sure if it's standard Sport or Tech package or what but the SmartKey system on the drivers door with push button start - I freakin love it. The mirror with the autodim and directions is just kind of there. It helps when people tell me "Go east/north/south/west on" because I never know what direction that is. Also we have a lot of tools running around with HID headlights in non-projector housings, anything that reduces that glaring annoyance is good. DualZone climate control - because females get cold easy, and I like the AC cranked. Heated seat if they still feel cold, cuz I'm not turning the AC off. The truck is exactly what I wanted. I do kinda wish I got the JBL system, especially since people are saying it has more bass, but I can upgrade audio a lot easier than I could trying to add the rest of the tech package features so...meh.

Withought sunroof and heated sears its just another work truck. Bare and basic
With it now you have a truck that can compete with the f150, ram and silverado.

    No brainer here folks
