As an oxygen breathing Georgian, I'd rather you not. Plus, copping to breaking the law on this forum is highly frowned upon.

Negative, some low life stole your cat for $40 so they could get their next fix. That's why they relocated the cat on the 3rd gen to reduce those occurrences. I am sorry for your trouble; hopefully karma will catch up to the perpetrator. Your comprehensive coverage should cover it.

I posted that GA did not have inspections as I did not know if GA required a cat. Maybe they do but don't check? Maybe it is a federal requirement?
What are my options going forward and complying with all GA and federal laws?

Sorry for your bad luck. Some older and large cats with beads can fetch quite high amounts. I have scrapped some older GM's for $80 each. A few of those add up really quick. Also it sure does not help how high our truck are stock, slide under on your back and you have 2 cats really quick, though the ones on our truck you might get $30 each.

If the OP lived in California it will cost $4500 for the lower two. Thee thievs often leave the upper two because they're in so close to the block.

I think they stole it for the money. a wile ago they where going to the dealerships and stealing them. trucks are the target because they can get under it easier cut and run. now most scrap yards make you file paper work if you turn them in.

Burritoma, yes there are plenty of aftermarket options available. Best to go to a muffle shop, they can weld them in and they will work with your O2 sensors and should not cause any check engine lights if installed correctly. The other option is new from dealer or sometimes used in a bone yard. Most bone yards pull the cats for scrap shortly after they come in.

A good friend of mine is an appraiser for a chain of pawn shops in the Louisville area. She tells me they get just about whatever they want out of battery powered sawzalls....Thieves buy 'em to steal Catalytic converters.

    Well,

Sounds to me like a legit reason to put a skid plate or two under your rig,
Might slow em down or at least make them hunt an easier target.
