    CB gurus (mainly you @Taco No Baka ) I want to relocate my antenna before this meet to try and prevent it from hitting the low lying branches and what not (remember last time I lost the cap and bent the tip).... I am thinking about these twolocations. Which do y'all recommend? I plan on staying with this 3' firestik as well.

    Haha, while I'm hardly a guru, I have read what the gurus suggest for mounting locations. First, I have to say, I'm amazed that your antenna broke like that. Mine came through just fine. Granted, you are a little higher than me, so with that in mind, I would either keep the antenna in the original location (the most ideal position) and just drop the mount down a few inches, or I'd go with your first option, only I'd move it up about half the distance between where you have it and the top of the tube, and--and this is critical--move it to the driver's side (gives you better range on the highway if you should ever want to use it there). Regardless, the gurus say that at least 3/4s of the antenna needs to be above the highest point on the truck to get the best performance.

    Awesome. I will do what you say and move it to the driver side and up a little more. We can put the swr meter on it in that location and if we can't get good numbers, I will simply move it back to the existing bracket and run it there for the weekend. I'm just worried about breaking it again right off the bat and then being without communication for the rest of the time. Either that or we can just slow down on the trails with the low lying branches :D:turtleride:

    Haha, well, I might be able to see them a little better at night now. Before, they were something of a surprise, not showing up until it was too late to do anything about them. :rofl:

    Honestly, I don't think your SWRs will change much. It's your reception I'd be more concerned about, but again, I don't think it will be too terrible.
