Yeah i used to go for a weekend at a time. You cover much more on a quad and I've still explored maybe a quarter of the area. They say it's a about a 200 square mile area. Idk

@utroda said there was that other road just passed mid summit that is easy up to the rocks. Mid summit is about an hour away from tripod flats on fs roads

what trail was this that you led us on? that seemed like a really easy way to get there. Just tight through the trees.

That I believe is tripod flats. But to get to mid summit, remember where we came out by the trailer parking? You go up that way past where we came out and mid summit is on the right. Probably about an hour apart

Here are the trail maps centered from funny/moon rocks. We will hit up mid summit before we get to funny rocks. Then it's a choose of either go strait to tripod or hang toward milk pond

Just go up barber springs/1701 road until you hit NF530. Its about 10 minutes off of 530 to get to the rocks.

Here it is on google maps - https://www.google.com/maps/@46.9619382,-120.928837,15.84z

There's a few trials before the 530 road that take to the rocks just like mid summit and a couple others like 694, but if your worried about that hill climb everyone can make it this way.

Yeah that's the way we came out last night, i've only lived in ellensburg for a few years so never really came from this side up, but we used to hunt elk on the barber springs side.

We went up tripod to the rocks, then out barber springs, its was about 12 miles and took about 4 hours in the weather.

@utroda do you remember what the elevation is at the rocks? Might hit some snow, coming down to 5500ft this Friday. Also bringing a chainsaw since its supposed to be windy here.

Thinking of exploring Stampede Pass on Saturday for the first time. Anything I should be aware of conditions or route wise? How grown in is it this time of year?

    Nothing of note.

I put a lift on a friend's 4Runner this weekend and we were thinking either going up to Stampede, or if he's feeling froggy, heading out toward Gallagher.

Does anyone near the Lynwood area have their stock wheels and tires? Running into an issue at work with a trade in truck that has aftermarket wheels and tires on it. A buddy from work wants to buy it but they won't sell it to him unless is has stock wheels and tires. Just want to put the stock set up on it until he signs papers and then pull them back off. Stupid logistics crap.

I'm in Seattle, but will be in Lynwood tonight. I'd gladly sell the wheels/tires in my truck bed for $200 if needed :)
