Hey guys! Ive been seeing a lot of guys having the ubolt flip kit... What is the benefit to this?

Also, what is the benefit to doing a shock relocation to behind the axle?

It flips the u-bolts so that they don't stick out underneath your axle. If you do a lot of wheeling, the stock setup is at risk of catching on rocks and what not. I think I read somewhere that shock relocation on first gens is necessary with a u-bolt flip but someone else that's done it will have to chime in on that

The ubolt flip makes sense for not snagging on rocks etc.... My truck is my dd so more of a light-moderate weekend warrior when it comes to off road so would those be necessary for me at this point?

I would say don't worry about it yet, I haven't done it to my truck and I wheel just about every weekend. Haven't had any issues with it. I have seen other guys though drag their u-bolts across rocks before, so it's just something to keep in mind if you do go out wheeling. If you find that it becomes something you're having to work around regularly, then I'd look into doing it.

IMHO, its totally unnecessary for you, if you don't do any rock-crawling. But if you are going to change out your leaf packs, and replace the u-bolts, make sure they are not too long (I always make sure, that when installed, they don't protrude beyond the nuts more than 1/2").

When doing the U-bolt flip you lose the lower shock mount

Now some people just weld brackets to the back side of the axle housing because the access is just easier .

when your to the point of needing a u-bolt flip your also going to want heavy duty skid protection under the front to behind the transfer case and your fuel tank.
