I'm actually going to be selling off my towing mirrors, I've decided I don't like them. They are great for traveling with the camper, otherwise they aren't really for me. I'll deal with the CIPA mirrors until I find something better.

No, you were supposed to get the parts from Rob. He can get you genuine, OEM parts for a fraction of the stealership.

Oh yea I had no idea where he worked. I just thought he worked at a driveshaft balancing shop because he said "at least I work in the right business" when he damaged his DS....

Check out cvj. They reman OEM units and you can get high angle.boots from.them. You can tell they're OE by the shape of the base

He works at LKQ. I've bought a few things from him. I like the way they do it, they grade the part and the vehicle it came off of. So far, everything I bought I've been happy with.

Yah, had soft trifold on old. Thinking hard this time. Still deciding....

Will surely see you all sometime soon. Wallet can't hide. Tonneau is a must-do. Wish the house didn't need a roof.....otherwise I would have pulled the trigger on everything already.

I tried a couple times w the spray bottle and didn't see squat. I guess this is why people say check the plugs and wires. :anonymous:

When I have time tomorrow I'll pull out the plugs and give em a look. Can I check the voltages on the wires to confirm they're in working order?

People always complained at my old company that they were salaried and pulling in 50-60 hours a week. We were office civil engineers, and while you had to crunch when deadlines were approaching (Saturdays and long nights), its not like they were 'working' 50-60 hours a week. I tried to get them to understand that they were in the office for 50-60 hours a week, but from what I noticed and saw, most were only working 4 hours a day. If they actually put in the normal 6 hours of head down work, they would be out of the office everyday at a decent time.

I get that in other professions it's a different situation (e.g. hard to fuck around on the clock), but a lot of the guys complaining about being in the office were doing it to themselves. Now I work when I feel like it and just make sure I am meeting my submittal deadlines. Life is much better now.

You know what I'd love to find? A totaled 13-15 Tacoma Limited to pull the seats out of. With some luck, I figure I might get a similar price on the seats to what I'd pay for Katzkin leather for my seats. Then I also get the foldable rear headrests.

Demand might be too high for something like that, though, and it's probably like trying to find a needle in a haystack with how few of those trucks were made.

Well your right about the demand. The problem with these trucks is that people want them so bad they are willing to pay so much (more than they are worth) if they are repairable. So the only way one of those usually make it into one of our yards is if it gets really smashed up. Then you have mangled parts, blown air bags and/or body fluids all over the place. We get them in but more of the base models and more of the little bit older ones

I need to know why. My "new" snowmobile trailer is an inline, but at 7' wide I think I'll still need to use towing mirrors. I was going to buy towing mirrors from Rob at some point. The CIPA mirrors suck to the high heavens, they are really only there for compliance to the law. You can't actually use them to see things.

Now I won't get out of here till 6:15 at the earliest, and won't get home till 7:30. Woo...

Too bad my office doesn't allow alcohol.

The CIPA mirrors I have, I agree, they suck but they at least give me a glimpse around the side of the trailer to see what I'm about to run off the road. But, the rest of the time, my stock, non tow mirrors are great. I can back the trailer up with ease and I can maneuver the truck easily, not much in the way of blind spots with the stock mirrors. I'm not a fan of the tow mirrors I bought because of the shape of the glass. The size, shape and how they function is awesome, the glass it what ruins it for me. The large piece of glass must be concave because it magnifies the view and I can only see a very small portion of what's next to me. For example, if there were a car next to the trailer, I'd see it in the large mirror, but if it were next to the truck itself, I'd completely miss it. On top of that, when backing the trailer, once the trailer starts to turn, because the glass is magnified, I can't see the end of the trailer to see where it's going unless I keep moving the mirror to follow the trailer. Now, you might ask, isn't there a convex mirror below the big one, and the answer is yes, but it goes to the opposite extreme. It's so convex, everything is just a spec so I can't really see what it is or how far back it really is. For traveling, the tow mirrors are fine, actually better than the CIPA mirrors, but for every day driving or trying to back up the trailer, they are not ideal for me. Since I spend a lot more time doing all those other things, it's not worth it to me to have huge blind spots 99% of the time just so my life can be a little easier that 1% of the time I'm towing the trailer.

All that being said, the mirrors Rob sells shouldn't have those issues. They are just regular, stock mirrors when you need them to be and fold out when you tow. They are stock mirrors for a Dodge Ram and aren't the split mirror that comes on the Fords and Chevys.
