Granted it could be fluff, but not alot of vendors will just up and say this online without "we'll need the part first to make sure its our shit"

So how many more issues besides the two do we know of? I ask this because I too have these same exact parts in my truck and have for about 10k miles. So I would like to know of how many more we know of before we start blaming the parts.

Admittedly, these two are the only issues I've heard of at all, but that doesn't mean there aren't more. I'm definitely interested to hear it if there are any others!

Holy crap. Folks calm down. Way too rowdy here. Ill be sending trs an email as they requested. I wasn't trying to start a war or anything, I really just wanted to bring them into the discussion so we can all get answers. I changed the thread title to garner attention.

For those of you chiming in without having any facts, maybe you should browse a few pages, check out the updated first page, and get a clue.

Everyone take a step back and breathe. Damn.

For the record, I gently placed my pitchfork on the ground and leaned against the nearest wall. It is however, within arm's reach ready to defend internet honor at a moment's notice. :) Very curious to see what comes of this with more investigation.

Also, anyone know of any low-beam OEM Toyota or Lexus HID projector lenses/bulbs/kits it would be possible to swap into the Tacoma?

You need to change your thread title again. It says LED and you keep on about the HID kit being the culprit. I know how the TRS interface harness is assembled, they have to share common ground for any of it to work. I went back and read your thread from page 30 on and I still think it's comical that you got the pitchfork safe space crew all riled up before you ever actually spoke with TRS about the unique concern. I have no skin in the game, I use TRS products, they don't give me anything, I buy them like everyone else. They have not failed me through multiple vehicles/applications. I also don't pressure wash my engine bay like you do, most people don't FWIW.

He contacted TRS long before they showed up in this thread. They didn't appear until the second (potential) instance of the issue popped up and they were @'d by name more times.

That guy constantly keeps posting things that are 100% wrong cause he didnt read anything of the thread. Obviously he seems to have stake in them or something to defend them so bad. Guess he missed the Part TRS told him not going to help him at all with the HID and wanted to charge him another $40 for the LED. That happens though when you dont read

The HIDs have been ruled out mostly, as they are functioning even with water exposure, after I went and resealed the entire harness.

Another user has issues with the LEDs, as did I. My LEDs actually had melted wires inside the driver, in which I contacted TRS about. They agreed to replaced the LEDs for 46 dollars. I paid, received the package very quickly and installed . However I had to alter the bulb base because it wouldn't fit into Tacomas high beam housing properly.

I have had multiple emails with trs customer service. The first email told me that they are sorry I'm having issues but everything is water proof, and that I could replace the harness if I wanted to. It wasn't until I decided to tear down and test everything that I found the issue with the LEDs.

Like I said, I initially went with the HIDs ad the culprit as they are more complicated than LEDs, and Toyota blamed them. Upon further assessment done myself (I was a mechanic and parts guy BTW) I discovered issues with the LEDs.

Due to work, I have yet to water test the new LEDs to see if I get a fault.

And, almost everyone who 4x4s washes their engine bay. I've done it on ALL my last vehicles with absolutely no issues. This is the first time anything has happened.

The YouTube videos I posted are atypical, those were torture test vids and I wanted to prove Toyota wrong, desperately so I attacked the truck with water when everything was stock as a baseline test.

So tell me more about how you don't know anything of what's going on?

I updated the title to reflect the most current diagnosis, thus garnering applicable attention

When the truck was first taken to Toyota they deemed it sand intrusion. When I brought it back after they had it a month, they spent 2 more weeks and hit me with my HIDs.
I investigated further and found issues with LEDs.

How is it wrong to update the thread?

    It's not wrong. I'm sorry.

I got fooled thinking there was a new thread about problems with the 3rd gen, then realized I had seen the thread before.

That's not really true. While the frame and can are the same, the powertrain and electronics are entirely different. However I still disbelieve any HID or LED kit caused the OP's problem. Just wanted you to know that from an electrical standpoint this truck is completely different that the 2nd gen.
