    I believe we've had this conversation about my mom and sister being taken away by this disease as well. Don't know if this helps but a priest who's a family friend told us once, "It really doesn't get better, but it does get easier."

    So many of us have gone through what you're in the middle of and I'm sure if each of us can take just a little bit of the burden you have to lighten your load, everybody in here would be fighting to get in front of the line.

    @Techoma

    I feel pretty selfish and foolish this morning. Woke up abled bodied to go to work but instead I called my supervisor with someone bullshit excuse so that I could sleep in a couple more hours. Logged into TW to check the nightly debauchery but I was quickly humbled by your situation and I'm truly sorry your family and you have to go through this. Like someone above me said, it doesn't get any better it just gets a little easier over time. Having recently gone through a similar situation, I feel for you and your family during this trying time.

    May your family and you find peace after the storm and if you need anything at all, just Hollar.

    John, having gone through a very similar situation earlier this year and losing my Grandfather, I feel deeply for you and your family. Going to visit him up in a Mesa hospice during his final days was very trying on me as most of that time he had no idea who I was. What was even harder was watching my Grandmother hold her husbands hand and talk to him about their 60+ years of marriage together and he had no idea who she was. My Grandparents had a long and beautiful life together and held a relationship and family together like I never could believe was possible.Their marriage is an inspiration to me every day.
    Your words John, remind me of my Grandparents. You too are an inspiration. What I have learned through trying times like these, is that the saying, "Life is a journey, not a destination" holds very true. We will all leave this world someday and we all leave in our own way. This is simply the end of something beautiful that gives us a way to begin a new journey. It's that journey that we cherish and the memories we keep and the love we carry in our hearts that makes us stronger.
    It sounds like you've had a beautiful journey together and that is something many of us may never experience. I appreciate all of your words and you sharing with us. I believe we can all learn from you; your love, strength and family attitude is truly inspiring. I thank you.
    My uncle is coming down from AK this week to start treatments at the Phoenix Mayo clinic. Having other friends and family members fight cancer in the past, I too say Fuck Cancer!
