I cannot believe some of these mortgage payments!! My wife and I live in a 1000sq/ft house (3 bed/1 bath) with a 535sq/ft detached 2 car garage and pay $430 a month.. including property tax and home insurance. We have been able to nearly completely remodel the interior due to the inexpensive mortgage payment. Granted, I did get lucky and only paid $62,500 for the house and it's in a decent area. My truck is $300 a month and that's about all I'd ever like to pay per month on any vehicle.

The median house price in my town would buy about 25 new TRD OffRoad Tacomas. And the median house here is a 50-60 year old 3 bedroom, 1500 sq ft on a 5000 square foot lot. On the other hand, my 2016 is practically trouble free after almost 25K miles, and a pleasure to drive. Should be even better after I get the transmission TSB done at the 25K service.

This truck has definitely made me never want to purchase another Toyota again.
And make sure I tell everybody I know that wants to purchase one, not to .

First year for the new body style.. I expected there to be some problems. Auto manufacturers are now using the public to test their products rather than making sure they leave the factory 100% good-to-go. It is easier - and apparently more cost effective - to come up with recalls instead of more heavily testing products to find potential flaws. This is the difference between Toyota in the early 2000's and Toyota in 2016. They STILL make the best vehicle on the road, and we may as well get used to being guinea pigs and testing their products for them in real time. I definitely understand why the OP is very upset with the situation, but I have a feeling that Toyota WILL resolve the problems for him at THEIR cost. There is risk involved with the purchase of ANY mass produced product these days, and Toyota vehicles are no exception. Put the Taco up against any other truck in its class and I'm going with Toyota 10/10 times. Toyota WILL make it right, but you may have to find a better dealership to help you take care of things. Our local dealership is awesome and I never once heard of a single customer with a new vehicle who didn't have their problems resolved.. even if it took a while to find the proper fix. Field tech's and engineers are in place for a reason and once you deal with the right service manager things will get much easier!

Hardly. Government related yes (I'm active duty), have lived and worked in some of the shi*tiest conditions/places, work way more hours at times for way less than my civilian counterparts (12 hour mid shifts for a year straight when I was at the OWS) and won't be getting any retirement/pension as I am done after this enlistment, have also terrible knees and back now, developed neuropathy during my last deployment but must be nice right ;)

And how much help have you got for your education? Every job has its advantages and disadvantages. And yes when you look at the pay in the service its not that much, but the other stuff tends to make it worth it.

Agreed, never said otherwise. Again what's your point? Do you have some vendetta against me? Yes there are some benefits like education, but there are also a lot of sacrifices made and parts to it that no civilian would deal with either. Coin goes both ways, was just letting him know I don't have a "cushy" government job with a pension. Please add me to your ignore list as I will you as you seem to have an some vendetta with me and your responses are not appreciated. Now back to topic.

    OP how is your truck?

Well service contacted me and said all done,I asked if it was something major his reply was no just some thread lock on some bolts that were leaking oil.Now I'm no engineer but that doesn't sound right to me.Could some threadlock be the culprit I highly doubt it but we'll soon see.Just to be on the safe side I started a paper trail with Toyota corporate.I have a funny feeling this ain't over but I'm hoping so for their sake cause my truck is gonna be in the middle of their showroom floor the hard way.Ill keep my fingers crossed for now.

As in I agree with you in that's not a good diagnosis. Thread locker keeps the bolts tight, unless they were missing thread lock and were loose causing the issue. Where was the oil leaking from? Most leaks are a gasket issue as in the gasket was damaged whether over torqued, damaged, etc. causing a leak. I would probe the service advisor a bit more as to details. I would also call Toyota Customer Care and voice your concern see if they cant restore your confidence in your truck with perhaps an extended warranty, etc.
