So I'm starting to do my research for my next truck purchase. I owned a 2005 Thundra Crew Cab before I had to return the lease.
Now I'm in the market for a new truck, and this time I want to BUY

Guys, can you point me to any credible 09-10 Tacoma reviews. I've done some research and I like what I see on the 2010 F150.. But I really want a taco, especially given the 32K MSRP for a FULLY loaded Taco.

I loved my Thundra, it was the best car I've ever owned, including my ford expedition, and Mercedes S430.

So how do you like the quality of your 09-10 tacos?
Where can I read some credible reviews and comparisons?

What are you looking to do with the truck, it is kinda hard to compare a Tacoma and a fullsize as they each have positives and negitives.

 

ok, so I live in SoCal. I don't haul anything, but its nice to know that I can. I'd like to take it camping. Also I like the space a truck bed provides. Nothing heavy duty, even though once I transported a palette of cinderblocks with my Thundra. lol

I just got so used to having a truck (high ground clearance and being able to load/transport stuff) that I'm having a hard time adjusting to this accord that I'm driving now. LOL

first what is a Thundra?

How much do you want to haul, what size cab are you looking at, manual, auto?

 

Oh and I loved the fact that the Thundra felt more like a sedan, than a truck. It was so comfortable to have 4 people ride inside.

I love my doublecab, the ride is great. With the V6 the power is good although you can always opt for the super charger if you want more. The bed is small but I don't care I only haul a couple of motorcycles and occasionally some stuff to the dump. For me I pull about 18-19 MPG in the summer and 14-16 on the winter gas. For my family the Tacoma is perfect, I used to have a fullsize Cheby but it was too much truck from what I do, to large for the garage and too much fuel every week. My best advise is go and test drive them all. Good luck man

My '09 Tacoma has had a couple of defects that the dealerships managed to make very irritating. The first was the clutch pedal binding and squeaking and it is now fixed. Like many others, I also had to have my AC blower motor replaced. Finally, I'm going for the Rear Spring TSB next week because I regularly tow and haul (and I have to try to keep up with my wife's HD Ram).

Even with the repairs, I would not buy any other truck. I love my truck!

So AC blower motor failing is common with 09 Tacos?

 

The double cab is perfect, big enough for 4 adults, plenty of room to carry things inside the truck, of coarse you have the bed to haul things. The tacoma is probably the best built 4x4 stock. Really all you have to do is put on some good all-terrain tires ( i recommend goodyear Duratracs ), and your set for mother nature. This is my third pick-up, 7th toyota ( also have van, had 4-runners ). I see no end in sight

 

BTW I loved my sliding rear window on the tundra, I know that something that is not available on a taco...

 

As far as storage space under the seats, my tundra had a storage compartment under the driver side rear seat. I used to store emergency supplies there. Does the taco have any such compartment room inside the cabin. I've seen the storage space in the bed, but that's too small.

 

Rear Spring TSB: IMO, Toyota apparently sells the trucks with a softer spring set to provide a cushy ride and minimize customer complaints about harsh ride. However, this results in the truck swaying and bottoming out if loaded with a trailer or cargo. For most owners who haul little weight, this isn't a problem.

AC Blower Motor: The motors don't fail, they sometimes make a faint ticking noise and need to have a screw tightened with locktite. For some reason, the dealer replaced mine instead of adjusting.

And I agree with skistoy: you can't get a better 4X4 off-the-lot
