Anybody ever get TRUCK tags on their taco for lift law reasons? Got pulled this morning on my way to work (1st stop since I've owned the truck for a year n a half) and hassled for the height.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
I think you can. But unless you are towing 10K, your not required to. And if you do you pay more taxes.

Yeah the cop was really rude about it too. I was super polite and he let me off without a ticket because he said i have an excellent driving record. Guess ill do some research n see if i can say i tow so much weight or some kind if loop hole to get t-tags so this doesnt happen again.

Ok i see... im not worried about the taxes, already pay enough lol. With t-tags the height limit is higher than having regular tags. He said it would keep them (the law) off my ass.

    Not Enough.
There's a really good tutorial (quite a few actually) on YouTube of a guy doing his Tundra. As Casper said, make sure it's nice and clean. I just used rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and a rag, then a little compressed air to make sure it was dry behind the emblems. Tape off a rectangle around the emblems about an inch or so wide. Then use newspaper to mask off another foot or so in each direction. I had a lot of overspray to clean off my doors because I didn't do that. You can kind of see how far I had the tape line away from my tailgate emblems in the picture I posted. Luckily, it's not hard to get off if that happens. Little bit of quick detailer and a clay bar and you're good.

When you spray, spray at ALL angles. This is VERY important at getting a clean pull when it's time to pull the extra.

Spray the first coat lightly (very important when it's time to peel the excess). About 50% transparency. Wait about 5-10 minutes, and spray a second to about 90% transparency. Another 5-10 minutes, and throw a third coat on to full coverage. Then repeat that about 4-5 more times. The thicker you get it, the better.

After you're done with 7-8 coats, give it 25-30 minutes, and start the peel. Use a toothpick to get the insides of the letters. That's kind of tricky, but you'll get the hang of it quick. I just left some of them in the smaller letters (Like inside the A on the Toyota badge on my tailgate), but I've got a dark blue truck and it's not noticeable at all.

It's really not hard to do at all. The stuff is just strange to me because I come from a line of auto painters and it's nothing at all like paint. But it's pretty cool stuff.

I keep thinking about dipping my emblems red and possibly the front chrome grill black with the 'T' in red, but it might be easier to just buy a blacked out grill instead. I've already got something going on this weekend but let me know if anyone is doing theirs soon. Maybe I can come over and hang out.
