    Heard that. I just turned 59, and we bought a house in the country (without a garage) this spring. The house came with a renter, so we haven't moved yet, and really aren't in much of a hurry too. But we have enough equity in the house we're in now, to pay off both houses. So once the garage is built and paid off, there will be no mortgage, and we have enough saved to retire on if we don't have a mortgage. So 2, maybe 3 more years...
