A little background of me before I begin...
I first had a Honda Element then an Evo X. The Tacoma is my first truck that I've owned but I have driven a Tahoe and Tundra for camping trips and whatnot.

When driving the Tacoma on the freeway ~70-80mph I do notice that it tends to get fairly bumpy if the freeway is not completely flat. What I mean by this is if there are a section of bumps the trucks suspension doesn't absorb the bumps in the road but rather builds a momentum with them. It gets to the point where the fat on my face is jiggling. I have read that the sport suspension sucks but is anyone else noticing this or is it just me? I did come from a lowered sports car which has almost no suspension travel so maybe I'm just not used to the suspension travel in a truck..

(Maybe I'm trying to justify suspension upgrade :D)

It rides like a truck. That is what happens when there's no weight in the bed.

But to answer your question, people constantly complain about the stock suspension, even on the TRD Off Road's. I can't speak for 3rd gens, but Icon seems to be the way many go for a solid kit. (If you can afford it)

Tire pressure might be too high. Mine were at 40 psi when I first got my truck, the freeway ride home was terrifying...every bump in the road made my back end feel like it was going to swing out sideways. Lowered it to 33psi and it's much more comfortable. Weight in the bed also helps.

There's this spot on the freeway on the way to work where it's downhill, and you get going about that speed, and the same thing happens.
The passegnger seat actually shakes back and forth.
Happens every morning. Happened in my 2G, and happens in my 3G.
I never once have thought it was because the truck sucked, but because the road sucked

Lose some weight and the fat won't jiggle. Plus, the truck's power to weight ratio will improve. WIN WIN.

Stock sport suspension is a bit bouncy, a bit stiff, and many bits crappy.

I find mine to be bouncy too. 5100's all around is in my future. I'm coming from a G35

I don't have any problems with mine. There is one portion of the interstate where it is rough just based on the spacing of the concrete slabs. Though that has been bad in every car that I have owned. I love the ride of my sport.

I'm always in that speed range on the hwy, have not noticed that!! Maybe a little vibration on my stomach, but very little :)

It has to do with riding on concrete freeways. Riding on asphalt the trucks ride pretty smooth.

The sport has stiff suspension. That is part of what makes it "sporty" (cornering/handling). I have driven pickups most of my life and this is my second taco Sport. I would say there is nothing wrong with your truck, but do check tire pressure, and if you just can't deal with it then change suspension to the OR config or something better. You should be able to get a reasonable set off someone who upgraded.

The suspension is stiff for a reason. I did have mine out on a cleared gravel (call it rocky) road the other day and you do get bounced around even at slow speeds. If I was faced with that every day I would have opted for the softer suspension in the Off Road. I don't so no issues there. Love my truck.

I took my cap off my 09 (been on for 2 years) and quickly noticed the rear end moving way more than I have gotten accostumed to the last few years. Never noticed it before the cap, but definitley now. Add some weight and you will find a better ride. I chose to order the sport as I understnd the suspesion is more for driving and the off-road wouldnt ride as nice, and vice versus for off roading.

HAHA thanks for all the replies. I enjoyed reading it. BTW I'm not overweight by any means, just thought I'd add some humor into it. I guess it's probably because I'm just not used to truck suspension. It's just something I will have to get used to(for now). Icon or King in the future hopefully, if not Bilstein 5100's all around!
