So I got $800 from my dealer to go to tires as part of my sale negotiation. I really need some new tires on my DCLB.
I want a beefy all season tire. Winter is coming and I do take my trucks off road occasionally here in Wyoming and Colorado. I have no desire to make this truck a monster truck but may one day put a short lift on it.
Was looking at BFG All Terrain KO's but those are spendy. Are there any good comparable options out there for my Tacoma that may be a bit cheaper?

    Thanks in advance.

BFG KO2... I have gotten over 60,000 and work well on ice and snow. You get what you pay for with them. I'll run nothing but them. If you shop you can get 4 out the door for $1050

yeah those are looking like $1100 or so? If I have to, I will, but thought there might be some other more economic options out there.

Good AT at a good price makes me think some Cooper AT3's for you. And you can get them in 6 ply which is nice for towing (stiffer sidewalls) and puncture resistance on trails and road debris, without the extra weight and stiffness of a full 10 ply.

Of course I'd recommend some Michelins before those, but Coopers are good value and really great reviews lately.

I picked up a set of near-new Cooper ST Maxx for an off-road set (255/75r17, 6 ply) for 50 bucks a piece and they're pretty awesome but on the more expensive side new, and not likely as good on ice as the AT3.

I have Falken Wildpeak at3's and love them so far. They ride great, pretty quiet, have an aggressive looking sidewall, quite a few standard load sizes so they're not heavy, and they're cheap. I paid 630 for mine in a 265/70/18.

+1 for Cooper Discoverer A/T3s. Only a few months into them, but happy with them so far.

BFGs are pricey, but I've run several set of them in all weather conditions on- and off-road - very happy with their performance. Not happy with absence of something other than E-Load Range in my size.

I have Nitto Trail Grapplers. They aren't ATs, but they ride smooth on the highway. As far as road noise they aren't much different than my Bridgestone duelers I had on my pathfinder. Tonight I drove home through a thunderstorm and felt more comfortable with the traction than any other tire I've owned. They have really surprised me. I have only put about 4000 miles on them myself in the last month, but so far I would absolutely buy them again.

    Same as everybody else...
I run Firestone Destination ATs but I don't do any serious off roading, not because of a lack of confidence in the tires but I live in Southern Maryland and there's not much in the way of off road here. I do drive farm roads (muddy), gravel and snow with no issues. I bought mine online for about 600 bucks.

I have had general grabber at2 for 2 winters
    Still plenty of tread left.
Should be within your budget. I got cheap quotes online then had town fair tire match the price. .i believe...It was around $130 each.

I also run BFG KO2 on my DCLB. Size is 265/70/17 C-Load. Got them from Discount Tire for $851 out the door.

I'm extremely happy with my Hankook Dynapro ATMs. They are awesome in rain/snow/mud/gravel, are quiet on the highway, are wearing fantastically after almost 40k miles, and are only 38 pounds in a 265/70/17 so my fuel mileage didn't take much of a hit.

Once you decide on which tire and size you like search the internet for the best price you can find. Then take that info to Discount Tire and they will beat that price.

Pulled the trigger on some BFG AT KO2's. A little spendy but since I negotiated these tires into my car deal I figured I might as well. Getting installed tomorrow but will look similar to these with white lettering on outside.

I had these on my truck while on trails above Pinedale and outside of Cody, In an ice storm in Louisville KY, in the sugar sand dune in Gulf Shores AL, the red clay and mud of red creek Ms but mostly on the high way. Really quite on the road for A/T.
