I'm itching for some field work. Eventually I'm going to rig my truck for surveying and get my own equipment. That way I can leave the office in the afternoon and go do the cool jobs lol.

Cool!! Worked with many of the company's around here for years now. Austin is becoming a bloated pig of a city but the people in the construction world still make it feel small to me.

Alright fellas, I need some input.

It's time to refresh my Tacoma's suspension. 127k miles and I can tell stuff is worn out, mainly the shocks. Ideally I'd like to get new springs, struts, shocks, UCA's and possible go from 2 leafs to 3 -4. Can y'all guide me in the right direction? For now I'll stay on TRD 17" factory wheels and factory spec tires so I don't wanna sky jack the truck but certain want to lift it higher than I am now and want to go higher than just leveling out the front.

Need to start putting a budget together so please help me out!!!

    Links?
    Threads?
    Parts for sale?
All of these things would be greatly appreciated!!!

Wanna do it right with coilovers or go best but cheap?

Also what do you plan on doing with the truck? Off-roading, mawl crawling, etc.

You want a full 3" lift or just higher than leveling out

i used to work in the bicycle industry...still do, i guess. i was out in Blanco and ran into an old customer. started talking...he knew pretty much all the people i work with now, and was talking about how he had been in the commercial construction industry here in Austin for 30-something years. most of the people here at the office have been around for 15+ years. not sure if it's a generational thing or what, but that blows my mind.

Guy that works with us just went part time because he makes more surveying with his company than riding on a bambalance.

I'm really open to all options. I'm used to doing this on my VW R32 which I have a full coilover setup that's fully adjustable, adjustable lower and upper control arms in the rear, slightly bigger sway bars and all the bushings have been upgraded. I don't go low and slow; I go out to Track with it a few times a year (Austin Driveway, COTA & Harris Hill Road).

Off-Roading I really enjoy. I use 4x4 when out on my friend's deer lease as some of the roads get pretty sloppy after it rains, plus I take it down the National Sea Shore in the summer where 4x4 is mandatory at least a few times a year.

    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p312/Coil/Bilstein_5100_Kit_w/_Dakars_(HS05BK-1-Dakar).html

There are so many variations with these kits like add a leafs and progressive add a leafs and full Dakars.

I would give Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road a call. Tell her your wants and needs and she will set you up with a perfect kit. Wont try and sell you shit you don't need either. They ship for free there and it's fast as heck too.

Surveys property for people. Will also do the layout for a foundation if they need it. He works for himself. Has had his own company for 20 years or so. Just him and another guy. They do the surveying and the drawings of it afterwards I'm guessing like you do now using Autocad and Carlson.

Yeah, I use a Carlson embedded CAD program now. It blows balls. If you own your own company there are ways to make good money land surveying. Mad props to him.

Well you can either spend a $1000+ on Kings, ADS, Fox for the fronts or spend about that on all of it and go OME or Bilsteins. I've heard Bilsteins are a lot better on 2nd gens than 1st. So it's a toss up. I'd go Dakars on the rear and add greaseable shackles if you guys can do that

That's what I thought because you guys have that flip shit or something. On 1st gens our shackles are normal and can be greased anytime if you purchase that kit
