Anyone know a good way to buff out minor scratches from washing a black truck? And any ways to prevent scratching when I wash it?

Look up the 2 bucket method for hand washing. Plenty of youtube vids.
The only way to actually buff out (not fill in) swirls and minor scratches is to use a dual action polisher/pad and a polishing compound.

You should check out the detailing section of this forum.
