As an Atheist I have some much free time I just waste it on TW and YouTube. It's become my church.

Atheists don't owe anyone "proof" that an invisible abstract space ghost doesn't exist. The burden of proof is on believers to somehow demonstrate that an invisible abstract space ghost DOES exist.

I'm not claiming you or I owe anyone proof.. i'm making a statement there is no proof either way. Which there isn't.

Until there's proof that there IS a magic man, I'm an Atheist. I'm open to all reasonable evidence. Then we can get onto the conversation about which of the infinite number of deities in human history is actually the "right" one, or is it all of them? I'll wait for someone to prove just one of the exists, as I don't want to get ahead of myself.

In the meanwhile, I don't need a system of beliefs that offers me a reward for being a good person. I can do that just fine without that kind of promise. Live each day to the fullest, folks.

Yeah, you're totally right. The issue is, at least every place I lived in the United States, believing in a God is the norm and choosing to not is the standout. Therefor, many people believe you are forced to prove against the existence of a God. Reminds me of innocent until proven guilty. True until proven otherwise. I am not agreeing with, or condoning this mind set. However, in Lubbock where I reside, this is simply how it is. This is why I rarely have this conversation with my friends (the majority of whom are Christians, Catholics specifically), because they're not used to be challenged. And in their mind, this is how they were raised, and therefor there is a God, unless someone can prove them otherwise. However, there is no proof against a God, leaving the argument, like I said before, in a worthless loop.

I do not consider myself a better or more intelligent person for choosing not to believe in a higher power. I simply feel I have the ability to for my own opinions, after being raised Catholic.

I was raised Catholic as well. Went all through Catholic school until high school. I think that deep education into my religion at that age is what made me question religion, ironically.

Same. Started with specific disagreements in the Catholic church, grew into me leaving religion all together.

I was an altar boy and used to drink some of the wine from the cellar and eat all of the unleavened bread. Total heathen. Our church/school had a bigger wine cellar than most wineries in Napa LOL.

Crazy that I learned how to open a wine bottle from a priest when I was 10 years old. And NO, he never touched me, you sick bastards. I was one of the lucky ones that got away.

Combine with your sig and I am officially scared. Save me @ChadsPride

    :anonymous:

I remember once as an alter boy I had to do the job of all three and I have never done more than sit there and hold the bible up. There was a lady telling me what to do over my shoulder the entire time and I def fucked up multiple times. As we were leaving, I heard a woman tell her husband infront of their two kids "wow, that alter boy really sucked". Direct quote. First grade me politely asked if she was the Devil or just spoke for him. Lilfknbornsavage.

hahaha great story. I remember my first dozen services where I screwed something up for sure. Lighting candles, bringing the wine/bread out at the right cues, etc. But, I ended up being the best one and got to serve the secret all-Latin Novena masses in the cool underground bunker chapel. That shit was bizarro.

But, our school gave us cool field trips for being involved in service or in band. So I got to go to the water parks at the end of the year and other cool trips that the non-involved kids didn't get to do. Well, as cool as you can make a field trip full of a bunch of altar boys and band nerds.

Man, if you were to take all the vocals out of a traditional Catholic mass it would be creepy enough, but add an ancient language no one speaks anymore? Shit son

Man, it was a brick-lined underground turret of a chapel. Barely any light in there, just by candles. Spooky latin chants done by angry priests. The oldest of the old churchgoers would creep in there for the 9pm service. Still one of the coolest things I ever saw.
