A shop that's familiar and done it before should be able to do it in a day, maybe 6 to 8 hours? At $100/hr (going rate here in CA) so I'd say anywhere between $600 - $800

Seems high to me, I've read that members on here have done it in close to half that time. I would venture to guess that those dealers haven't installed one before and are giving themselves some padding time-wise. Or they're high balling you to get more $$. Definitely worth shopping around for the best quote.

I guess if you're changing out the spark plugs too that might add another hour to it but still, seems high.

Yeah I've called around and that seems to be the norm. I'm still shopping around.

You forgot the general rule of TW that when 20 guys say they want something, only 4 actually want to pay for it.

It depends on the guy installing it. Some Badass can do it in 6 hrs while others require 12 hrs. 2 yrs ago Cabe Toyota in Long Beach quoted me $600 for install if I bought the blower from them. $1000 if it wasn't. Also their Master ASE tech would be doing the work since I was told he installed 10-15 blowers back then.

i think you will get more. I know there is some interest over in the FJ forum if we can get to 20 people and 20% discount. Depending on whether they can put together a 3.4L GB too and if those count toward the discount threshold, I would bet you can get to 20 no problem. I think the issue is with that type of one-time cash outlay, people need to think about it longer or make the financial arrangements.

You can easily spend that kind of cash on bumpers, tires, wheels, skids, sliders etc., except that it is incremental and the wife/gf/budget can deal with it because it can be spread out over months/years. This is a big ticket item hitting all at one time.

My issue is no one that I know that does the build. This is the info I got from a local shop- kinda scarey..
"As far as install and tuning, I expect it to be closer to the 6-8, but as a cautionary estimate, prepare for 8-10. Tuning is the real trick, there is no way to tune these trucks with the stock computer. The only way we can tune any newer model Toyota is with a Haltech stand alone system. This can get very pricey, 4-6,000 for everything required has been the average with the Tundra crowd shooting for quality power. They make piggy back engine controllers, but we dont utilize their software."
I just can't justify that amount of money, especially since I just did the lift, wheels, tires, bull bar, nerfs, rechlon lights (on order) and spintech muffler. If I can find someone in the 600-800 range, it will be a different story.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Local shop is loco. It comes with a tuner and a pre set map. No haltech needed. Install should be fairly easy if you have any sort of wrenching experience.

FJ Cruiser members count towards it as it is same pricing and just a different fit kit. Working out details for 3.4L owners and will probably be separate.
