I've never heard that. Not discounting your post in anyway, just saying that seems odd. If you look at the build sheet for Icons, they have a pretty low shelf life and require rebuild pretty frequently....if you go by their build sheets lol

    Right?
I need to crunch some numbers on "equivalent" set-ups but, as it stands, as much as I like the King's they're a bit overkill and a bit to much $$$ which is pushing the Icon's to the top of my list.

Heard the limited movement in the rear w/ the BP-51s are detrimental. You'd get more flexibility w/ the Icons

from what I've heard from many owners of Kings (mostly on jeeps though)
that they are by far the best off road, but do not last long.

Wouldn't doubt it in a way. Sometimes building something to perform the best means losing some longevity.
Didn't know the Icons have bad wear as well. I wonder how the Fox compares.

Only other reason I was leaning slightly more towards the fox is its also what is used by toyota for the Pro. So I figure they did some testing and found that fox offers a good balance between off road and on road use. I know the fox kit I've been looking at is way better than what is offered on the pro but still.

I won't be off road constantly. More of a overland vehicle and daily driver in the city. So I don't really need the kings. I just want something that will last relatively long and perform good off road.
I just don't want to waste my time going with say a $2000 or $3000 lift to be disappointed only to end up getting rid of it and getting the fox or something. If I just buy it for the $5000 it is (in canada) and have it last me a few years and I can be happy with it, thats good enough for me.

Work tends to do that to us doesn't it. That's not too bad considering what size you're running. I love the sound of a nice chainsaw, just not in the wheel well of my truck haha.

I'm having a tough time picking.
I want to do a complete leaf-pack swap rather than AAL, and I'm leaning towers 2.5s in the rear as well, but that pushes it up to the Stage V which is a bit much.
I might look into piecing a "kit" together, like Brick_26 seems to have done.

I went with a Fox stage 2 (extended) from Headstrong with Total Chaos uca's and HS 3 leaf aal.
I also almost never see off road but I wanted to have it when necessary. Price was right, wasnt overkill. 2.5" coilovers no resi, and 2.0 resi's in the rear...couldn't be happier. Ask for Marie. A pic of my truck is posted on their website. She'll set u up.

I think I've read all available info on the BP-51 as well in comparing it to Icon, Fox, King. The main benefit of BP-51 is adjustability on compression and rebound which I don't believe you get with the other big names until you go to a full bypass shock.

And yes, the BP-51 is not extended travel, most notably in the rear where the Dakar springs can travel 2" more than the shocks will allow.

Gotten feedback from a few members that BP-51 rides smoother on the street and is more tunable as well to make the transition from expo duty to street driving.

My opinion is that for an overland build which will also be a daily driver BP-51 is the way to go and is what I'll be ordering since this is how I will be using my truck. If you want to mob through the desert at 80mph then yes, I believe Icon, Fox, King extended travel with Deaver leaf springs is the way to go.

I have the bp51 kit on mine and love it! The front come preset to give about 2" of lift with a bull bar and winch, there is still plenty of threads to lift more if needed. I ended up with almost 3" of lift in the front and 3.5" in the rear. My winch and bumper are much lighter that the full arb bull bar!
The front and rears are about 2" longer than stock but this is really all they could do without extending brake lines, ebrake cables e-locker wiring ect,
The compression and rebound adjustments can be a bit of a pain to get to but I do not find myself needing to ajust very often, I really only change the rear depending on my load. I needed to add 2 degree shims on the rear to fix a driveline vibration.
The travel on the front is much better than expected with the factory uppers! For an overland rig I prefer to keep the factory uppers if possible as I have had bad luck with aftermarket! So as long as the travel was there this was not a problem for me.
One thing I really liked about the ome is it is a kit! Comes with everything you need minus the shims, all the resivior brackets are tucked up out of the way and mout with factory bolts, no hose clamps! The stone guards are a nice feature as well.

I have hade some issues with one rear shock and the creaky dakars!
Arb has finally redesigned the rear spring and sent me out a new shock and new set of springs that have been squeak free so far.
I will say to anyone ordering the bp51 kit, make sure your getting the new designed leaf springs.
Overall this has been the best all around suspension kit I have run and I have run most mentioned in this thread. I am not easily impressed but so far with the exception of the rear springs, the bp51s have exceeded my expectations.

    Thanks!
That is the prototype dissent offroad bumper. I played around with different heights and decided on this location, I felt it complimented the lines of the truck best and I liked the fact that the 6" leds could take the place of the factory fog lights. I personally do not like the smiley face look that you get when the wings step up. I have been on some pretty bad trails and have yet to hit the bumper due to not enough clearance.

Im loving the Fox kit. Not sure how much better the ride would be if i had gone with reservoirs on the front coilovers. I wanted the bling but i couldnt justify the expense since the truck barely sees dirt or mud. I probably could have gone with spacers but i wanted the real deal. no regrets.

Everytime i go into the shop to get things done, the owner and one of the mechanics are always talking about how good the ride was when they drive it. I drive at as a DD and i have zero complaints. Its not too stiff but not spongey either. I cant imagine a better ride...makes me wonder what the other brands ride like.
If you are going to go with a full bumper later down the rode then Id recommend maybe a 700# spring up front. i wont be going with any bumpers so the spring the kit came with works fine for me.
