Switching to synthetic oil

I am due for an oil change and would like to switch to synthetic oil.
In the past the stealership said they would have to flush the system in order to switch.

How true is this?

 

100% false, with synthetics today that is total bull sh:t

 

Stealership be living up to their name, stealing. Change like you always would, tell them it already has synthetic in it and drive away happy.

 

Never heard of an oil flush. Must be a premium service.

Drain conventional (Dino) oil out of truck. Replace oil filter with new. Reinstall drain bolt in oil pan. Re-fill truck with synthetic oil. Done.

 

BS Go synthetic and never look back.

Oil flush huh.... ranks up there with replacing the air in your tires every tire rotation

 

I have heard of synthetic oils which are not compatible with petroleum oil, I doubt you can buy these retail. No flushing required, I've changed several vehicles over to amsoil no problems.

Why are you wanting to change? Conventional oil is perfectly fine.

I have had it in all of my previous vehicles and seems to keep them running stronger longer.
300,000 miles on a Ranger i used to own and was still running strong the day i sold it.
I know what ill be doing this weekend.

It was awhile ago, I don't remember when but that may be where the flushing idea came from.

 

Toyota Dealership Oil Flush Service: $200.00

- Remove engine oil pan drain plug
- Drain engine oil
- Reinstall engine oil pan drain plug/new gasket
- Refill with fresh synthetic motor oil - up to 5 qts. - additional charge for > 5 qts.
- New oil filter included
