Not feeling any jolt or sounds, but fuel consumption is whack. When in D, the truck seems to have a high rpm at normal run rates/cruise control. Played around today and put the truck in S mode, shifted all the up to 6th, left it there. Fuel milage is instantly pushing back up.

    Thoughts or similar experiences?

Most guys experience crappy 15-18 mpg for the initial few miles/tanks. Mine started out 17-19 and was pretty pissed as that's what my 2nd gen got, Im now at 20-22 consistently with 265 KO2s. The truck will need sometime learning your driving habits to get optimal mpg. Give it sometime. The transmission TSB will help with the erratic shifting.

@ZachMX is the transmission TSB something I call the shop about?

Yep it's through Toyota. There should be a thread here with the tsb you can print and take to them.

Just out of curiosity, how many miles and did/are you following the break in procedure from the owners manual?-

Ditto- consistently around 20mpg with about 10K on the truck- much improvement from the initial 16-18mpgs

I've got about 1,200 miles on it, when would you say that kicks in? Think there's any harm in leaving it in S mode 6th? Followed the up to 1,000 mile break in recommendations, no load, no high rpm, etc. @boynoyce @ZachMX

Granted I don't drive far for work, 3 miles each way I get around 13-15 MPG. Longer trips (15-20 miles) I get 18-20MPG. Haven't gotten over 20 yet. I had the TSB performed at 600 miles and I just broke 1,000 today. Driving to Vermont and back this weekend should add some mileage and speed up the break in

I started to see real improvement after 4K, no TSB done on mine-has always run smooth, but I really drive conservatively most of the time- however the mpgs are still good (20+) even when I am in the mood to punch it.

No harm, but I would avoid it personally so that way the transmission can adapt and learn my driving habits. It was about 5k my mileage really started to reflect EPA ratings/higher.
