    BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!
We slept - albeit in the back of a truck, and in sleeping bags - in the same spot that Lewis and Clark might have, 210 years ago. The feeling you get from that is indescribable.

Sun coming through the clouds perfectly illuminates this mountain nipple contraption.

But first, we stop at a truck stop in Missoula Montana and take a nice, hot, $10 shower. This would be the only shower of our trip (ewww!).

For example, I read an online article describing it, and it made it sound like some apocalyptic shit, stating that you couldn't get through without 2 spare tires, a winch, a come along, a sat phone, and a note from the President and the Surgeon General.

To clarify, the Nez Perce Pass sucks my dick, and is basically a sign in the ground.

The roads "requiring 4WD" - which sounds like something a Subaru could do -actually require a very high clearance rig with larger tires and lockers, and are not for casual AWD / 4WD operators; while the road itself requires nothing more than a unicycle with a knobby on it.

We're all just pine trees, baby. One day we will get burned up and a new tree will sprout to take our place, and the world will barely acknowledge our existence.

This is well into Idaho but damn, look at that big sky.

but, because we Americans have to travel with every fucking possession we own, he's pulling a trailer. On a one lane dirt mountain road. So backing up is kind of... mmmm... problematic.
The guy on the left ended up backing up and letting Trailer Draggy McJohnson on by.

I, having a 4WD, a set of balls, and an insatiable interest in old wooden huts perched on edges of mountains, decide that Meredith and I are going to cruise on up to said old wooden hut.

Anyway, we start up this trail and it's steep, and has some rocks, so I go into 4H. We get a bit farther up and it gets steeper, narrower, and basically is angled so that water - and Toyota 4Runners - will be projected off the side of the mountain instead of down the trail where they will cause erosion.

Now the rocks get bigger. And bigger. And I'm having a hard time picking a good line because there is no fucking line to pick - the trail is like 6 feet wide and there is a 3,000 foot drop on the left side of it. I engage 4L and my locker because I don't want to chance sliding even a little bit on one of those rocks and kicking my ass end left a few inches - because I don't have a few inches to give.

My dick and balls were pretty far up inside me at this point, trying to find my core so they wouldn't get ripped off in the carnage that was surely coming. Any further in me and I would have been Jennered.

I didn't exactly kiss the ground once we got back down, but I did walk around for a few minutes to 'shake out' my junk.

@MeefZah Like I said, "A way with words."

That will do a good job hauling the coolers to the parking lot.

Hey guys, remembering last winter something comes to mind. Several off-road clubs offered their assistance to emergency crews and getting doctors to hospitals during winter storms and things like that. Have anybody been thinking of doing that this year?

I'm not nearly as prepared as i wish, but I got my prep shopping list and hopefully will pass my HAM license before than. Anybody else got something in mind?

What do you mid-ohio/Columbus people like as tires for our winters? I'm trying to decide what I want to put on when the time comes to get new rubber.
