@StOrMyThEtAcO did you clean it out yet? like blow it out with compressed air? also, disconnect the power brick.. not just the end from the wall.. and not just the plug that goes into the xbox.. but the plug that cab be removed from the power pack itself. let it drain power completely. clean it. then plug it back in.

this literally just happened to mine a couple weeks ago

Been trying to install Windown 8.1/10 on my Laptop with no sucess. I can't get past the partitioning stage. Keeps complaining it can't create or use any partitions. I've tried with a usb install and dvd install.

I've had this happen many times, if you can do that and format that drive on the other computer you should be golden.

I can zero out the drive, and make a GPT setup on the disk. Windows will then move on to copying files, then fail with "windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase"

Nah, it's a SSD drive I used for a little bit on another system that had Win7 on it.

    SMART reports nothing wrong

Edit: I had also tried a HDD, same issues.

From what I can tell from reading tons of posts on forums, it fails to copy files while another EFI boot device is present. However, my laptop doesn't have a legacy boot option, nor does it have a cd-rom drive. So somehow I need to boot up in EFI mode, remove that device, and still have the setup files avaiable to windows.

Success! I had to create the usb setup with a different program. Looks like the first way was failing to load some files before setup started.

I've been looking for a long time to replace winamp since development died years ago. I've been using AIMP for about a year now and so far it's been amazing. But today I just learned it did something else.

I have the remote app on my phone so I can change songs and what not when I'm not at my PC (I stream music through the house using my PC sometimes). I was listening to music super loud while testing work stuff and all the sudden my volume on my PC went way down. I look around and my phone, which is on silent, is ringing. Once the call was done the volume went back up to full blast.

Turns out if I get a call it drops the volume down on my PC. Kinda cool as I do miss a lot of calls because I can't hear my phone over my music.

I loved the Winamp 2.x series. It did everything, audio, video, cd ripping, audio coversion, library, skins etc... When 5.x series came out, a lot of the features were no longer free.

These days, I just use Audacious.

Best Buy has been having some great deals on USB 3.0 flash drives the last couple weeks. Almost tempted to buy several 256GB drives and put them in RAID0.
