thank you snowboard. that makes sense. What is a ball park price of regearing if I wanted to down the road? I think I will stick with the 35's.
And ChadsPride...I have. If you look back on the first or second page of this thread I have a bunch of pics. The one on my profile is what I would like to accomplish. But I wont be able to do quite that high.

It's going to differ depending on where you live, for parts and labor from a good mechanic it should be around $2,000 to re gear. If you removed both differentials yourself I'm sure that would save some time. You will be halfway there already when you do the drop bracket lift because you remove so much of that components already:

 

Well, I got her back from the paint shop yesterday. The paint job is decent for the money spent. But I made a very costly mistake in my paint color choice. I wanted to stick within the same basic paint color range so I wouldn't have to repaint the door jams. But I wanted to go with a brighter red metallic then what it originally was. I had a color picked out but for some reason I listened to somebody else who suggested another color. It is so freaking hard to tell from a little 1 inch paint samples what the turnout will be. This thing is very metallic and in the sun it looks pretty good but it's brown to me. Way darker than I wanted it to be. So .................. I know it's crazy but I will be sanding it down again and starting over. Won't be nearly as much work this time. Just have to wait 30 days.

 

I will say that you don't notice the fender wells being cut once the pain is on. Those who are very familiar with Tacoma's might realize it but otherwise it looks pretty good.
Can someone tell me why it post some of my pictures twice? Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Yes. Trimmed about 4 inches off all around.

 

3" lift and 37s now! Lol

 

its been done more than once. Gotta completely cut the hell out of inner fenders though. bigger tires look sweet on trucks that arent to high imo.

 

Oh yeah I know. Silas hd 37s on his green truck. Gotta tub the hell out of it though

 

I recommend not spraying the door handle on the truck. The paint will sort of seal the handle to the door and if you ever need to replace, it could chip the paint. Previous owner of my truck did that and even the flares. When I went to replace a broken handle, the paint chipped where it's noticeable with the new handle on

 

Go around edge with razor blade.

 

Exactly what I did but it's just something I wanted to point out so OP doesn't have to worry about later

 

Plus I never put back my fender flares and now there's a line on the fender

 

Don't obsess. Seriously, the darker color looks great. Unique. Save the cash and put it into the rest of your project. Your little one will not know the difference at his age.

 

Hey all. Well, after a few months of hard work my tacoma transformation is complete. Well, at least 99%. And I must say I am EXTREMELY THRILLED with the outcome. I know the color may throw several of you purist but hey, its my truck and I like it! . 6" fabtech lift with 35x12.5 BFG's on 15x10 polished aluminum wheels. Classic look. And the white letters out on the tires. I am one happy camper. And my little boy now refers to it as "daddys monster truck".
