I recently purchased a new Tacoma I now have 2500 miles on it. I brought it into the dealer in Eugene Oregon today for two issues. The first issue is the stereo shuts itself down and reboots itself, sometimes. Other times it will not reboot and I have to pull over and shut the truck off and restart the engine and then it will work for a few minutes. This is very frustrating when you are in the middle of a phone call and the whole system crashes and hangs up. The second issue I am having is the sunroof rattle. The sunroof rattle is so bad when you are going 30 miles an hour or more, it makes me not want to drive the truck far. It even rattles with the volume on the stereo set at 20 or more. The dealership was very aware of the stereo problem and told me they had a update to install. The sunroof will take them a little longer to resolve as they have to completely remove the headliner to access the rattling problem. I was told today they found the problem but will need it for the next couple of days to resolve the issue. I will have an update next week when I have my truck back in hand. I have noticed very sluggish shifting but figured I just need to put my foot into the pedal a little harder. In my own opinion I feel the pedal is very mushy and unresponsive however if you put your foot into it the truck really moves out. Other than the lame composite bed on the truck which you can't put anything solid in, anyone who thinks about getting one of these to load up some gravel or rocks should reconsider getting a Tacoma as you will quickly destroy the bed of the truck. Luckily for me I kept my 79 Chevy K 20 which I can literally drag trees out of the forest if need be. I am wondering if anyone has thrown a rock through the composite bed yet while they are offroading or possibly spinning the tires to get out of the mud. I love how quiet my Tacoma is I just think Toyota has really dropped the ball on the miles per gallon. I average 19 miles per gallon no matter what I do. Honestly after driving the truck, I think I would have held out for another year or two in hopes of getting one that broke 25 miles to the gallon. I could see getting 19 miles to the gallon if it had power like the Ford raptor but it is lacking power to only be getting 19 miles per gallon. Oh I'm sorry there is a third issue, a howling noise coming from the "A" arms under the truck. I already ordered the plugs to fill the holes. Here is the link for the plugs. http://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~90950-01824.html

Yes, you should have held another year or two from buying it.
If I was you, I would take it back. Looks like you really need a metal truck bed.
Go buy an aluminum Ford, those hold up pretty good.
If I was driving something that made me so mad, I would get rid of it immediately.
    Good luck!

What are you basing your MPG expectation on? an F150 ecoboost gets more like 16-17mpg. A Chevy Colorado V6 4x4 with smaller tires gets about the same as the Taco. There's only so much you can do to squeeze MPG out of a V6 truck that's remotely capable off road.

Have you seen any evidence that the composite bed can't handle the abuse? Composites are often stronger than steel.

The 137,000 miles of hauling stuff with my 2nd Gen says you're wrong. These beds are superior to painted sheet metal for dumping junk in the back. They don't break and they don't rust when scratched.

Sweet!Im glad to see truck bed can withstand some serious abuse. I have always owned full size trucks which had metal beds. Im stoked to hear i can have loads of gravel dumped in it without the fear of putting a hole in it. As far as mpg goes, i had a 2005 Chevy Z71 four door which avraged 18.5 mpg with a V-8. I had a 2007 GMC Yukon which got 21 on the highway and 16 in town with a V-8 and four wheel drive. I just think Toyota could do better with a little V-6. It doesn't seem right that I had a full-size truck comparable gas mileage. I love my Tacoma don't get me wrong, I just hope these little bugs are worked out soon. I also had a ton of problems with the Chevy Z71 so I'm not saying it was a great truck I'm just making comparisons. I wish i never sold my 87 Toyota SR5 lol. That was the best truck ever!

Woodfired I've had the same issue with my radio also. What phone do you have? Samsung? If so this is how I fixed mine.
    1. Make sure your radio has the newest firmware.
    2. Unpaired your phone and delete it from the radio.
    3. Delete your truck radio from your phone.
    4. restart your phone
    5. Repair your phone to the radio.

This worked for me. When ever your phone updates you might have this problem again.

    Hope this works for you.

Whose feeding u lies about an f150 lol I hand calculated mine and I got 22. Now with my bigger rims and tires I'll get 19-20 but I'm happy with it. As far as the aluminum my beds rhino lined so I have no say there.

The bed is bullet proof. I was out of my mind and raced my boss down a logging road with an Optima battery in the bed . I was expecting total carnage. I'm pleased to say the bed is in good shape . I did punch in the passenger side access door in and it was folded in half. It sat in the sun for a few hours and went back to its normal shape . I had the TSB Update on the trans and it's fine . I have had the radio flashed now it's fine. My truck had never made the control arm noise. My hood used to rattle then stopped on its own. My truck gets 17/19 ish in the city . If I drive normal I get 22/25 driving on I-5 from Roseburg to Cottage Grove.

Man! I have yet to see my mpg go above 21 on the highway. Im hopeful after a bit more break in my mpg will go up. The Toyota dealer called tonight and said they want me to drive around my Toyota without phone paired to it a while and see if radio resets anymore. If the radio crashes without a cell phone paired to it they said they will replace the unit. I'm glad someone else has had this problem and was able to solve it by simply unpairing the cell phone and reconnecting it again. Although, when I went to the dealer to drop off the truck the consultant said they have had this problem with many vehicles. Technology..... it's your best worst friend!

It took about 9,000 miles for my truck to start getting good mileage. After the TSB update it woke up and the mileage got better the last radio flash fixed all my radio troubles too.

I am getting 20 AVERAGE and that's with 17 miles daily driver and a lot of slow off road miles. Why did you buy a truck with a plastic bed? This makes no sense. You knew a plastic bed would not hold up to your abuse and you still paid 40000 dollars for an inferior truck. I hope you're reading this. Your truck makes noises. Duct tape the holes shut. Are you serious? You think they dropped the ball on mpg? This is a high output, naturally aspirated V6. It hauls ass when you put your foot down. This is no minivan engine. This has simulated atkinson when you don't have a load on it. It gets amazing mpg when you don't drive line an ass hole. I often get freely trips of 26 to 28 mpg. A farmer had a dog. How fast are you driving on the highway. How much of your highway driving is at 70+ in 4th gear? There is no good gas mileage at 70+. Slow down. Bingo was his name o. You need to learn how to drive if you want good mpg. Brett Favre. If the quarter back, if he throws the ball. Your sun roof is an unnecessary add on item and you should take it back to the dealer and get them to fix it. It's just something loose. If the quarter back throws the ball and the receiver catches it in the end zone. Did you buy this truck to drive as a luxury car? That's gonna. You kept your old truck. That's gonna. That makes it sound like you knew this truck had issues. That's gonna. You knew it had a plastic bed and you still bought it. That's gonna be a touch down

This truck is quite aerodynamic for a truck
