time for a test fit of the tire chains... cut up some pallets, and maybe just maybe split some wood.

    Ok people with experience...

I got a set of chains with the cam tensioners.

They fit well, i can get them on by hand leaving 3 links extra on the inside and outside, then after driving a little can adjust it to having 4 extra links.

Is there any reason i should not cut off the extra links? Other than the fact that they May not fit other size tires? Id rather have to buy new ones next time if these don't fit than dealing with the damage of 4 links of chain spinning around if it came loose.

And with the cam ones, do i need the rubber band tensioner things?

Cut off the extra and save them They can be welded back on later if needed.

I've always used regular old rubber bungies for keeping tension. Hook point to the outside. I think they are a good idea to have regardless of chain fit. Especially if spinning through deep snow.

I cut the set I have to exact leginth, but also carry a spare link as well as one that I can put on to temp extend the chain, hooking up in snow is a pain and you'll want the extra links around.
Little hard to discribe. It I can show you on mine

Cool, yeah i could imagine it would be a pain in the ass when you actually need them. Since they were a pain in the perfect circumstances i just installed them in.

I may throw two large caribiners in there in case i need to use them to pick up slack. (Only when putting them on, not driving)

Cut off the extra, added some caribiners to the bag and hit the ends of the chains with some white paint to make it easier to unravel.

    Bring the blizzards on!

Those look exactly like mine. On hard pack they rattled a brake light out of the scocket
I haven't done it yet but gonna try soon is run 550 cord through the chain at center of tire to hopefully help stop them from flinging off tire hitting the body

Yeah you'll need those chains for your duracraps. Hopefully I won't have to pull you out so much this year.
