I have an '03 Tacoma 4x4 with 104k miles. I am the original owner and it has been lifted 2" since I have owned it. About 500 miles ago I began hearing what I can best describe as a "growling" sound from the drivetrain. This noise is not there all the time and when it is there I can make it go away by simply pulling on the 4 wheel drive lever. I have removed all the drivelines and they seem fine. I have replaced the right front axle as it had about 40k miles on it. The front wheel bearings are tight and all the cases are full with no leaks. Has anyone had or heard of a similar problem? If so, I'm all ears.
